The openings are for two tenure-track positions, specializing in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics and/or in Operations Management, at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The expected starting date is August 16, 2019. Teaching load and the compensation package, including summer research support, are competitive and depend on the qualifications of the candidate and academic rank being offered.
The Department of MIS, Operations Management, & Decision Sciences offers undergraduate majors in MIS and Operations, a Master degree in Business Analytics starting in 2019, and supports an MBA concentration in Cyber-Security Management. It also offers undergraduate minors in Business Analytics, Business Intelligence, Cyber-Security Management, MIS, and Operations and post-baccalaureate certificates in a number of areas including Business Analytics and Business Intelligence. The Department is responsible for supporting all business undergraduates and MBA students with courses in MIS, Operations, Business Analytics, and Statistics.
The Department faculty are well known for their research, teaching, and professional service. Faculty accomplishments include publishing numerous articles in major academic journals and serving in editorial positions of leading academic journals and as key officers in major professional organizations. An Operations Management Advisory Council (OMAC), composed of senior OPS executives from local and national organizations, regularly interacts with the Department faculty and students, and provides guidance in areas such as curriculum development, research activities, and student employment.OMAC is also a valuable source of student projects and guest speakers in courses. An OPS Distinguished Speaker series invites at least one highly-accomplished scholar in the OPS arena to visit the Department every year. The Department has a similar advisory board and speaker series in MIS.
The School of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB International. It offers eight undergraduate majors through four academic departments, as well as an MBA and specialized Master’s programs. The School includes several centers of excellence, including the Business Research Group, Crotty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, Davis Center for Portfolio Management, Hanley Trading Center, Fiore Talarico Center for Professional Selling, Center for the Integration of Faith and Work, and Center for Project Excellence. The school has well-established international programs with major universities in several countries around the world. A business advisory council, consisting of senior executives from across the U.S., advises the dean on planning and development issues.

Eligibility for Associate Professor: Possessing a Ph.D. in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics or Operations Management from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school or in a closely-related discipline with similar accreditation; a record of producing high quality scholarly publications in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics and/or Operations Management; evidence of teaching excellence in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics/Operations Management or closely related disciplines at the university level.
Desirable characteristics include:
• A completed Ph.D. by August 16, 2019 in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics and/or Operations Management (or a closely-related discipline). • Evidence of teaching excellence in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics and/or Operations Management. • Evidence of a strong and ongoing research program in Decision Sciences/Business Analytics and/or Operations Management. • Established engagement in the Decision Sciences, Business Analytics, and/or Operations Management discipline through conference and editorial activities. • Prior professional experience that includes a leadership role. • Successful experience teaching students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. • Successful experience with diverse research methodologies. • Successful experience with alternative teaching techniques (including classroom, online, and blended formats). • Evidence of successful collaboration with department colleagues. • Articulated desire and demonstrated effectiveness in both undergraduate and MBA teaching. • Evidence of effective interpersonal communication skills. • Articulated understanding and concurrence with UD values of theory-to-practice, practical wisdom, and service to the community.
