Job Description Summary

This leadership position is responsible for the creation and facilitation of a campus-wide data governance program with focus on data standards, data quality and data ownership in support of university business processes, reporting and analytics, and enterprise systems. This position will coordinate and facilitate cross-functional teams requiring a mix of strong leadership, communication and technical skills.
Establishes the vision for data governance on campus.
Works with functional subject matter experts, technical report writers, and IS (Information Systems) to define and implement a University-wide data governance process.
Works with functional subject matter experts, technical report writers, and security to establish data ownership, and establish standards for the definition of, and use of University-wide data.
Defines University-wide data change management processes and procedures.
Is responsible for ensuring adherence to data standards, data governance processes, and implements process improvements where needed.
Facilitates a university-wide data governance / data standards committee.
Serves as a core team member of university BI (Business Intelligence) & Analytics initiatives.
Accountable for maintaining the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive information or data in any medium regarding the university or its students, faculty, or staff. Accessing or disclosing such information or data must be deemed necessary for the performance of one's job responsibilities and must be authorized by the employee's supervisor.
Availability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Bachelor's degree and five years of experience in the field of Data Governance, Data Standards and Analysis, Data Management, or related field. An equivalent combination of higher education and experience may be accepted.
Strong combination of Leadership, Data Analyst and Technical skills required.
Working knowledge of data standards, data definition and data governance (Higher Ed preferred).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proven strong communication and interpersonal skills and consensus building abilities with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven skills working effectively across internal functional areas and the ability to coordinate/facilitate cross-functional teams.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills.
Experience extracting data using BI tools (e.g. Cognos, SAS, SSRS, etc.).
Experience in Data Analysis and Design.
Creativity and adaptability; resilience to change.
Higher Education experience in the Data Management / Data Analyst area is strongly desired.
Experience using BI reporting and analytics tools such as Cognos, Tableau, SAS
Responsible for own work.
Requires knowledge and experience in own discipline. Able to effectively perform job responsibilities with little guidance or direction. Able to manage or direct other team members.
