Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Intelligence Data Architect/Modeler for OIT-Administrative Services. This position reports to the Director for Administrative Systems (AS) and has overall responsibility for assessing requirements and defining strategy, data architecture, implementation plan, and leading the delivery Business Intelligence. Additionally this position has responsibilities in planning, design, development, maintenance and ongoing support of university-wide enterprise dimensional data warehouse supporting and designing the University's Financial and Human Capital Management areas.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for establishing the long term strategy and data architecture, as well as the short term scope for multi-phase data warehouse efforts in the human resource, financial and business data areas.
Provides expertise in planning, design, development, maintenance and ongoing support of university-wide enterprise dimensional data warehouse and supplemental systems and services.
Works closely with Oracle Cloud Financials, Procurement, Budgeting, PeopleSoft HCM technical and functional teams, and staff in defining, mapping, and building data marts to support human resource and financial reporting requirements.
Leads the effort to incorporate data to/from additional Oracle ERP sources or other non- Oracle ERP sources, such as Huron’s Effort Reporting System, Athletics System, Rutgers Foundation, etc.
Responsible for ensuring that the ETL framework is extensible, adheres to industry standards, and is maintainable and operational with minimum manual intervention.
Responsible for the design of all database objects in both the data warehouse and associated data marts (tables & ETL routines); takes a leadership role in the implementation of Business Intelligence tools to enable effective access to the data warehouse and data marts.
Supports the ongoing data integration and development of new tools such as Oracle BICC, ODI, BI-Publisher, and Tableau.
Provides support to production warehouses/marts on a 24/7 basis.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technology field.
A minimum of ten years progressive experience in data warehouse architecture design, logical and physical data modeling and design, prototyping, data security, ETL processes modeling in an Oracle Ebusiness or Oracle Cloud Financials, or PeopleSoft framework.
A minimum of five years in an analytical and programming environment with emphasis on financial and human resources applications, business areas and analytics, Oracle Cloud ERP, systems design, data modeling.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have prior experience leading successful data warehouse implementations as well as a broad background and experience with application development including experience in system development lifecycle and deliverables from each stage.
Experience with requirements gathering, design creation and impact analysis.
Experience with test planning, as well as creation of test cases and test data.
Data Warehouse modeling/development, relational database management, ETL and tools such as OWB and ODI. Experience with Essbase cubes is a plus.
Expert technical skills and understanding of the Oracle RDBMS and Oracle application architecture is required including both Oracle Ebusiness and/or Cloud Financials and PeopleSoft HCM applications.
Possesses deep technical expertise in database design, ETL (OWB/ODI), reporting, and analytics.
Experience with reporting tools Tableau, OTBI, BI Publisher. Experience with OBIEE is a plus.
Experience with data modeling for reporting.
Ability to understand complex, integrated state of the art business intelligence and report data modeling
Ability to understand complex user authentication and data access authorization security models
Strong knowledge of PL/SL and proficient in creating PL/SQL packages
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills and the ability to foster working relationships with users and peers.
Excellent analytical and research skills.
Experience with Oracle Warehouse Builder, Oracle Data Integrator, DDL and DML scripts
