The Retail Research Analyst is a key role that will be responsible for maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy of the local property market and economic market research program and output. This position will build and continue to elevate a best-in-class research program that differentiates CBRE and drives a competitive advantage in the marketplace through market expertise, analysis and insight. This team member will enhance our offerings in the areas of the retail market analysis, business intelligence, data visualization, and graphical output.
The analyst will have primary responsibility for collecting and analyzing retail industry and mixed-use property related data while working within established standards and guidelines, maintaining data excellence, creating client-facing content and presenting it in a compelling way. They will work with the Research Director and the Global Head of Retail Research to interpret client needs, find the information that addresses the needs, and present the information in the best format possible. They will assist in tracking and analyzing all aspects of the local retail market, retail property market, and economic market by leveraging that knowledge proactively for research products, client projects and business development efforts.
This position will have direct responsibility for the Greater Washington DC market and will work closely with CBRE research and Data analytics leadership both in DC and throughout the Americas research group.
Implement the overall data management and standards plan for the DC market while maintaining data excellence and completeness of the CBRE property research platform
Create compelling visual communications, integrating CBRE's proprietary research data, for the purposes of business development, external distribution, and client requests
Produce interactive maps, reports, and presentations that bring research content and real estate data to life, creating best-in-class analysis and innovative deliverables that arm sales professionals with relevant insights
Maintain intimate and extensive knowledge of the macro and micro factors affecting the marketplace and proactively position research to leverage this knowledge for the business and for clients
Contribute to and execute the production of all retail local research reports and collateral
Develop and share best practice standards for the region and the Americas Research Group
Develop a strong professional network with CBRE's real estate specialists across business lines and across borders; build a reputation as a trusted advisor and drive engagement with internal and external clients, business and national research teams
Drive collaboration with marketing professionals, mapping and GIS specialists to showcase research data in visually compelling formats
Provide ad-hoc research support and produce data, graphs and commentary for pitches, presentations, internal and client meetings
Maintain the statistical and analytical program for the Washington DC retail and retail real estate market
Write, edit and organize production of local market research reports and contributions to national reports
Work within established standards and guidelines, perform regular audits of existing data and maintain an acceptable level of data completeness for all aspects of the CBRE property research platform
Contribute to reports on key trends, issues affecting the markets, economy, region and key industry sectors
Present regularly to internal teams and clients and present compelling trend and analysis Analyze and report on the local and regional economy with respect to employment statistics, major company activity, industry trends and demographics that affect the local real estate market

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Real Estate, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Mathematics, Urban Planning, or Geography, and a minimum of two year related experience in commercial real estate research, economic and demographic analysis or closely related field
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; highly proficient in working with large quantities of data.
Attention to detail and accuracy a must.
Self-starter attitude with a high level of intellectual curiosity and a passion for analytical storytelling.
Ability to exercise judgment and solve problems with minimal supervision. A strong desire to succeed and contribute to the success of a team
An understanding of real estate fundamentals such as supply, demand and pricing, as well as consumer trends and economic factors.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience managing workload, report productions and programs.
Ability to multi-task, succeed under pressure and effectively manage time.
Command of requisite technology including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and database systems. Aptitude for learning additional quantitative analytical methods and software programs, such as GIS, Argus, Python, or STATA
Comfort with visualization tools (such as Tableau, PowerBi) and presentation and mapping skills
