UCSC strives to embrace diversity in all its forms; it strives to be an inclusive community that fosters an open, enlightened & productive environment.
The Student Success Evaluation and Research Center (SSERC) engages in equity-oriented collaborative research with faculty, students, and staff to better understand, assess, and support student success at UCSC and to contribute more broadly to higher education scholarship. We provide data, research, and evaluation support to the UCSC campus. We believe that effective student success efforts and outcomes depend on fostering a culture of rigorous, research-based analysis connected to improving practice. We aim to make our research highly visible to maintain the focus of the administration and the campus on student success best practices particular to UCSC and beyond. The SSERC also manages 'Slug Success,' student success management and data analytics systems that are part of the student success initiatives at UC Santa Cruz.
The SSERC is part of the Division of Student Success and serves the research, data, and data analytics needs of the division. With a commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and a sense of wellbeing for all of our students, the Division of Student Success mission is to support the development of the 'whole' student, using research-based, innovative best practices that enable UC Santa Cruz students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
