Summary of Duties: The Data and Reporting Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, operation, maintenance, documentation, and support of donor, financial and institutional data collection, management, analysis and reporting; utilizing Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite, SQL Server Data Tools, MS PowerBI, MS Access, MS Visio, MS Excel, and PowerPivot and other query, reporting and data modeling tools.
This position is responsible for systems analysis, code review, design evaluation and implementations in support of business processes and fundraising objectives.
This position will develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes that build Data Warehouses allowing reports, analytics and applications to function at scale.
Report Writing, ETL and Development - 55%
Work with business users to identify business and system solutions addressing specific needs of a business area or process.
Coordinate with business users to translate business requirements into coherent Business Intelligence reports.
Work with university partners to define data and report requirements to be considered during report design.
Design, develop and deliver reporting solutions to the customer base.
Develop new reports, update existing reports, and participate in the testing and deployment of those reports.
Document, process, and provide data for ad-hoc reporting requirements.
Work with MS Excel to conduct data validation for ad-hoc reports.
Query databases to extract information to develop reports and use ETL processes as necessary.
Work with a data programmer analyst to support ETL process flows and mappings to/from data warehouse, marts and/or data lakes.
Develop business and technical requirement documents as well as technical specifications.
Analysis and Design - 30%
Gathering business requirements from the business users as well as developing system specifications for projects, enhancements and bug/issues.
Interpret, analyze and make recommendations regarding data accuracy needs and processes.
Utilize data repositories and reporting tools to organize, analyze and report information based on user requirements.
Perform system testing of reporting and other key data processes during updates and upgrades.
Document all test procedures for systems and processes and coordinate with business data analysts and users to resolve all requirement issues and maintain quality for same.
Monitor all business requirements and validate all designs and schedule all ETL processes and prepare documents for all data flow diagrams.
Troubleshooting business systems and processes.
Project Management - 10%
Apply principles of project management throughout tasks.
Create, manage, steward institutional data dictionary as needed.
Liaison with WSUF IT and Data services, university partners and business system analysts to ensure effective use, standardization and utilization of systems and tools for department.
Identify opportunities to enhance existing and develop new processes and tools.
Train business users and university partners on reports and reporting solutions and other query/reporting tools as needed.
Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
Required Qualifications: Positions require a Bachelors degree in a related field AND three (3) years of professional experience in business data analysis or related; OR a combination of education and experience totaling seven (7) years from which comparable knowledge and ability are acquired.
