Ohio University's Office of Information Technology is looking for a results-driven candidate with excellent technical, collaboration and communication skills to join the Information Delivery Team. The Information Delivery Team consolidates and synthesizes data from institutional systems, empowering faculty and staff to make data driven decisions to better fulfill the academic mission of the university.
You will design and develop complex procedures to extract, transform, and load data from source systems into the enterprise data warehouse. You will participate in development work requiring strong knowledge of business processes, source system data, SQL, and reporting application functionality. You will document, analyze and provide effort estimates for complex work deliverables.
The successful candidate will be driven to solve problems, achieve high standards of customer service and be able to effectively communicate with a wide audience, including staff within IT, enrollment management, finance, and HR. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Design, develop, and maintain data integrations from multiple source systems resulting in advanced analytic capabilities.
Design, develop, and maintain data models to enable user empowerment via tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Oracle Business Intelligence.
Create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations in a variety of reporting tools. Maintain a deep understanding of application features and capabilities.
Develop SQL queries to support ad-hoc report requests.
Develop and maintain knowledge of customer business practices through a mix of project work, partnering with business users, and seeking out learning opportunities.
Implement solutions that align with requirements, best practices, and the technology ecosystem at Ohio University.
Learn new applications, technologies, and skills independently through hands-on experimentation. Keep abreast of current reporting technologies and trends. Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and services.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related discipline
1+ years in the Information Technology field
Experience with SQL development on Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Rigorous attention to detail
Ability to move forward in ambiguous situations that require new skills and practices
2+ years of recent design and development experience for a data warehouse or operational data store
Experience with at least one commercial reporting or business intelligence application
Experience with data visualization tools, particularly Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
Background in analyzing structured data extracted from commercial ERP system modules commonly used in the higher education sector, particularly finance, HR, and enrollment management modules.
