We provide the leadership and oversight for the suite of financial products and applications used to support the financial reporting, planning and decision-making of our Finance Organization.
As an Intermediate/Senior Essbase Application Programmer, you'll be responsible for the technical programming and administration within the Financial Systems’ Production & Process Improvement team to achieve a consistent, stable systems environment that provides exceptional business value to our users. In performing the role, you will need to possess strong technical knowledge and experience in Oracle Essbase, either on-Premise or cloud hosted. In addition, relational database models, SQL and multiple Oracle technologies including Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Cloud hosted applications (PBCS). Finally, having a deep understanding of finance, accounting, and health care business practices will be beneficial in this role.

Technical programming and administration of Strategic Initiatives and Development - 40%
Support strategic and development initiatives for the following “Michigan Medicine Financial Systems” applications. This includes development of new datasets and reports, application administration, training, compliance and handover to production team for implementation:
Finance BI& Oracle Database - (Business Intelligence Application used for decision support across Michigan Medicine Finance)
PBCS (Application for Health System Cohort and Financial Budgeting)
EPBCS (Application for Health System Strategic Modeling)
Hyperion Essbase (Multiple Applications for Consolidated Actual Financial and Budget reporting)
Process and Quality Improvement - 30%
Support ongoing process and quality improvement initiatives. This will include both assigned, and self-identified improvement opportunities.
Strategic Development - 20%
Assist in long term planning for our reporting solutions. This will include staying current on industry trends, conduct research and submit recommendations on various technologies, advising leadership, and providing technical specifications for application improvements.
Ad Hoc - 10%
Items may include but are not limited to: Defining system documentation, helpdesk support, providing training, supporting compliance and governance initiatives.

BA/BS degree in computer science or related field
Strong knowledge of Hyperion Planning or Oracle Cloud applications including PBCS, EPBCS, or Oracle OBIEE technologies
Working knowledge of SQL and MDX
Ability to assess competing priorities, manage workflow and meet operational deadlines
Work well independently and as part of a team
Strong written, and verbal interpersonal skills
Strong collaboration and coordination skills for building effective relationships
5+ years of administration experience of Oracle Essbase
3-5 years of administration experience of Oracle Essbase
Experience working with Financial and Clinical Healthcare data
Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) experience
Experience integrating data from a variety of sources
Knowledge and understanding of technical accounting principles
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) or similar BI tools experience
Understanding of common IT business analysis, and/or project management methodologies and best practices
Experience with Oracle Cloud applications
Experience with Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management applications
Experience with Essbase multidimensional DBMS
Experience with query, report writing, and data visualization tools.

Health System Finance serves as the central finance group for Michigan Medicine and is comprised of six functional areas: Clinical Financial Planning & Analysis, Enterprise Financial Reporting & Forecasting, Academic Financial Planning & Analysis, Medical School Administration Finance, Reimbursement, and Financial Systems.
