The PIMCO Funds Finance team supports the PIMCO Fund Business group and Operations teams that are responsible for operating and overseeing PIMCO's global public and private fund complexes and separate accounts. This position represents an opportunity to learn from, and contribute to, PIMCO's management and oversight of these Funds.
The Fund Finance Sr. Associate will primarily focus on compiling and analyzing critical data and metrics that is used to administer and oversee PIMCO funds, as well as partner with various internal groups to provide reporting and analysis that contribute to their business decision-making process. Additionally, special projects will be assigned that will provide a broad array of exposure to the global fund administration business.
Key requirements of the position include: attention to detail; ability to distill, analyze, and summarize data for consumption by senior management; ability to manage multiple and competing priorities; ability to understand workflows and have a natural inclination to streamline and automate such processes; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Partner with business heads in conducting financial impact analysis on business/strategic needs
Assist in driving the semi-annual budget and planning process
Engage with internal and external parties to drive process optimization and alignment across the organization to create linkage between business functions, financial operations, and management reporting.
Perform computations and analysis on critical activities including revenue recognition, expense and accrual reporting, and invoice workflow management
Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports and establish regular cadence with business partners for budget vs actual analysis, expense forecast updates, and annual planning.
Oversee, manage, and direct services provided by external vendors who perform outsourced functions to PIMCO
Perform profitability and viability analysis on individual accounts and business lines utilizing direct and indirect cost allocation methodologies
BA/BS degree in Finance or Accounting-MBA, CPA, or CFA a plus
3-7 years of financial experience, investment management experience a plus
Aptitude for framing business questions in analytic terms and translating business requirements into useful analysis
Effective, clear, and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to work with, organize, distill, validate, query, and manipulate large data sets
Intellectually curious, solutions-oriented, controls-minded, and possess a process-improvement mindset
Self-motivated with strong project management and organizational skills
Adaptable to fast-paced environment and ability to multi-task competing priorities
A solid team player able to work effectively with other team members and to develop strong consultative relationships throughout the business
Experience with financial software, such as ReadSoft, CounselLink, Oracle Business Intelligence, or SAP a plus
