Under general direction from the Executive Director of Financial Aid (ED), this individual will plan, organize and administer federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, including grants, scholarships, and loans. The Coordinator will perform administrative functions of coordinating activities within the Financial Aid Area in Student Financial Services (SFS). These responsibilities include fund management, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance with all sponsoring agencies. The Coordinator will provide leadership in policy development as well as direction, training and guidance to the Lynn Counselor Team. This position requires the ability to interpret and analyze data, and to be accountable for all decisions made. The Coordinator will develop equitable packaging policies, determine financial aid eligibility, perform all aspects of the file review process, coordinate the dissemination of financial aid information, counsel/advise students, and maintain records as needed. Position reports directly to the ED and performs related work as directed. The Coordinator of Financial Aid will support all staff in SFS to meet the needs of students and work closely with the ED, the Director of Student Accounts and the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Student Financial Services to manage difficult student situation that cross all areas of administrative student services. They will also oversee the workflow in the Lynn Student Financial Services office. Participate, in concert with other College administrators, in oversight of the work flow in the Student Success Center in Lynn. The Coordinator may supervise part-time AFSCME Clerical positions as well.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership for professional and clerical staff.
Counsel students and their families about financial aid opportunities and the financial aid application process.
Oversee the application processing operations of the Financial Aid area to include web-based data exchange with government databases and tracking of application documents.
Coordinate electronic processing of application corrections and determine student eligibility for aid. Oversee the administration of student employment and state student aid programs.
Conduct file reviews and perform need analysis.
Work with the Executive Director of Financial Aid and the AVP of Student Financial Services to formulate policies and procedures, monitor compliance and manage the College's Financial Aid packaging and funding.
Prepare annual and ad hoc reports as needed, maintain records and audit preparedness.
Prepare and oversee yearly updates to policies, procedures, documents; provide intra-office training to professional and clerical staff; help facilitate dialogue across campus community regarding institutional compliance and understanding of financial aid.
Actively support enrollment & retention objectives by developing and implementing initiatives, policies, procedures, and consumer education materials including updates to web page.
Communicates with other departments to exchange information and resolve problems.
Support the Student Financial Services staff, by working closely with other SFS management staff to provide a supervisory presence for workflow issue and difficult student situations.
Serve on relevant college committees such as the Compliance, Foundation Scholarships, etc.
Will work with the Executive Director and the Loan Coordinator to coordinate loan default outreach.
Work closely with SFS team to develop financial literacy options for NSCC students.
Conduct workshops and presentations on and off campus.
Assist with daily operations of the office as necessary.
Perform related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Executive Director of Financial Aid
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $59,939 - $63,000. Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement.

Master's Degree and two (2) years professional level experience in a college financial aid office, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
Knowledge of Federal Title IV statute and applicable regulations and knowledge of state financial aid regulations preferred.
Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to effectively interact with students and families in difficult circumstances and to explain complex requirements clearly and concisely.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet software; familiarity with an integrated student records system required. Familiarity with Ellucian Banner (formerly Sungard) and Business Intelligence software highly desirable.
Versatility and flexibility to succeed as a member of a self-directed team in a student-centered work environment.
