Reporting to Director of Engineering and Data, this position works within IT to lead a team that provides enterprise reporting and analytic solutions to meet business needs. This position will lead developers and proactively recommend solutions to business issues through practical and effective business intelligence and data management best practices. Position will work closely with key business stakeholders and business analysts to establish information needs, define processes, implement and support the reporting and analytic solutions. This position will support our enterprise data management vision by communicating and executing upon the strategy for data in the areas of enterprise data warehousing, business intelligence, and analytics within the established data governance frameworks. Defines an executable roadmap of initiatives based on this vision and ensure adherence to enterprise data standards, quality, and monitoring processes. Lead the decision support data delivery layer to support the business lines' strategic needs through data reporting and analytic activities.
Lead, supervise, and direct department personnel, including but not limited to: hiring, coaching, developing, promoting, rewarding, assigning and reviewing work, directing work, approving transfers, disciplining, suspending, discharging, and adjusting grievances to ensure that staff are skilled and available as needed, projects are staffed correctly to meet objectives, deadlines and stay within budget, collective bargaining agreements and Minnesota State policies and procedures are implemented and appropriately enforced, all employment laws and regulations are implemented and enforced, and all employees and applicants receive equitable treatment.

10 years of experience in the IT field with 5 years of experience managing an information technology team such as a data warehouse, reporting, or business intelligence team. Includes experience with aspects of the data warehouse lifecycle including data reporting and analytics.
Knowledge/Experience with developing business intelligence and reporting solutions, utilizing a number of project methodologies
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and results oriented
Excellent follow-up, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with data management best practices within the knowledge areas of data governance, business intelligence and analytics, metadata management, data architecture, and data quality management
Ability to develop effective working relationships and work collaboratively with a variety of people
Self-motivated with high degree of initiative
Master's degree in information systems or business administration
Experience in information technology in a large, multi-campus, distributed higher education system.
Experienced in enterprise level report deployments, upgrades, conversions and operations.
Experience working with data management frameworks such as DMBOK2, FEA, TOGAF.
