The Business Intelligence Engineer is an essential member of the team responsible for supporting the system administration needs for Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics (BIAA) operations at OHSU. This person will provide system support and administration for the BIAA developers and analysts using the IBM InfoSphere suite of tools (DataStage, Quality Stage, Metadata workbench, Information analyzer\u2026). This includes applying patches, upgrades, and the associated system design, development, configuration, testing and implementation necessary to support the InfoSphere environments and components. InfoSphere is used to access source and target environments in Oracle, SQL Server and Epic/Clarity to process data for reporting and analytic needs. Developer support will include assisting with setting standards, reviewing code, deploying objects, if necessary assisting with development and other associated tasks. This position will also participate in scoping and estimating system capacity for application and system upgrades as well as long term capacity planning.
This role is also responsible for assisting with the administration of the Epic Caboodle and Clarity environment at OHSU. This is accomplished by performing Caboodle and Clarity Administration tasks, including deployments, system configuration and ETL development. Such development work is related to creating and customizing KB-SQL, creation of derived tables and associated store procedures, mitigating issues related to Epic supplied DDL. This role will assist Caboodle and Clarity Administrator in upgrading these platforms during each Epic Upgrade.
The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible to present technical information and design proposals in easily understood terms in both verbal and written form. Work closely with fellow IT staff and project management to develop, test and document systems and processes. Interact and work directly with customers, team members and analysts on project and support issues. Facilitate communication upward and across project teams. Follow change management and problem management processes.
This position is also responsible for detailed technical analysis to assure the availability and accuracy of data processed by the ETL or contained in the OHSU data warehouses and systems. This will include availability for rotation through an after-hours on-call support model as needed for upgrades, project go lives or to provide ongoing support of new systems that may have 24x7 support agreements. This will require a broad knowledge of OHSU systems and workflows.
