This position will implement infrastructure solutions for the Linux Middleware/Hosting team which provides Linux system administration as well as traditional Middleware solutions for the campus.
This position will primarily act as a system administrator responsible for building, configuration, management and patching of 800+ virtual and standalone Linux servers. As we transition to the public cloud, the position will evolve to support the traditional Middleware solutions which includes Sakai, Single Sign On, Splunk, Carolina CloudApps, Java environments, SAS/Business Intelligence, Remedy, wiki services, source code control systems, and traditional web services.
Candidates should have a strong background not only in Red Hat Linux server administration, but also enterprise orchestration and management software and design.
We are seeking individuals who can move fluidly between projects and to help define/implement technical solutions that benefit the University. The best candidates will have a broad range of technical skills and be able to effectively multitask between numerous high visibility projects. They will understand emerging trends in the IT industry and help determine whether they could enhance our service portfolio.
The selected candidate must be available for standby rotation for after-hours support.

•Four years of Red Hat Linux server administration •RHCE and/or RHCSA certified •Two years of Linux/UNIX configuration management and provisioning systems •Experience with Puppet, Ansible, Tower, Red Hat Satellite, OpenShift and VMware VCenter; AWS and Azure cloud services •Qualys vulnerability management •Candidates with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical staff •5 years of experience in higher education

Master’s and 1-2 years’ experience or Bachelors and 2-4 years’ experience or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution.
