Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior System Administrator for The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). This position reports to the Lead Application Developer and is expected to provide system administration expertise for large complex system, windows application programming of moderate complexity, as well as application support for enterprise-wide applications used by the Institutional Planning & Operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for administering large scale Oracle Database instances, which include but not limited to database design, administration, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, integration, backup/recovery, performance tuning and problem resolution.
Oversees hardening of the database on Oracle Linux and Windows platforms.
Responsible for designing/developing comprehensive solutions that include custom application of moderate complexity, database design and development, server installation and configuration.
Manages key aspects of development design will include security, scalability, performance, and high availability.
Works with various managers, developers, and users to gather requirements, manage timelines, and build innovative systems to meet the needs of the division.
Prepares documentation for users and other technical staff.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A minimum of 3 Years Oracle database, system administration, and application development experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
Must have thorough knowledge of modern development languages (such as .NET,
Oracle SQL, VB Scripting, PowerShell and Java).
Database development and reporting
Current versions of Windows and Linux/Unix server operation systems.
Web and Mobile Development
System Security (Kerberos and IPsec and Eclipse).
Business Intelligence Report Tool
Experience installing, upgrading, administering, and developing enterprise data systems using Oracle.
Knowledge of AiM, Kronos or Odyssey is preferred.
Prefers 5 Years Oracle Database Administration, system administration and application development experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The position maintains critical infrastructure services available 24×7; the incumbent would be required to be on-call for problems to be resolved quickly.
At times, the incumbent may need to work outside of normal work hours to minimize server maintenance downtime.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
The position is expected to work under limited supervision.
