The incumbent serves as a business analyst/system analyst to work with Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) cores/functions to understand technology-related needs. This includes working with appropriate business owners to map current and future business processes and align technology solutions with short and long term business strategies. The analyst will document business requirements and create detailed functional/technical system specifications. Duties include, but not limited to working closely with business owners and users to translate user requests into requirements and managing the process for communicating and tracking these requirements; identifying and drafting needed policies and procedures related to system use; creation of user documentation; and coordinating user training. This position reports to the CTSI Business System Manager.
Illicit business requirements – 60% â— Work closely with business units to understand business needs and align on technical solutions. â— Documents business requirements and creates detailed functional/technical system specifications. â— Assist managers or institute leaders with retrieval of data from the system in a useful format.
System Design 35% â— Formulate and define system scope and objectives. Works with users to map current and future business processes and aligns technology solutions with short- and long-term business strategies. â— Design data reporting and business intelligence needs into system specifications. â— Creates detailed test plan. Executes test plan and document test statistics, metrics and results. â— Actively participate in testing of enhancements and new components of the system, coordinate the individuals included in the testing process. â— Evaluates issues and enhancement requests for pattern to plan and recommend process improvement and system upgrades. â— Continuous agile or iterative – apply feedback to original design for continuous improvement
Other duties – 5% â— Assist in communication and training efforts for the release of new features. â— Creating and maintain documentation for processes and systems. â— Recommend policies for use of system, including drafting Standard Operating Procedures as needed
Required Qualifications: â— Bachelor's Degree in a related field (computer sciences, information technology, or comparable discipline) and two years of professional experience in the area of business or system process analysis. Four years of work experience in the areas of business or systems process analysis with a non-related degree. â— Experience eliciting business requirements. â— Experience in one or more phases of the software development lifecycle such as planning, testing, training, and/or in the maintenance of a complex database or web-based application system
Preferred Qualifications: â— Experience with development or implementation of a data system â— Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships at all organizational levels â— Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple assignments and tasks while meeting deadlines â— Experience in an academic and/or research environment â— Strong written and verbal communication skills â— Ability to effectively communicate details, processes, objectives, and details surrounding the use of a complex web-based system to colleagues, customers, and technical staff, both verbally and in written correspondence and documentation
