An exciting opportunity has arisen for a market research analyst to work within our Customer and Business Analytics team. The team focusses on delivering meaningful reports, insight and analysis to internal stakeholders and business leaders to inform commercial and business management decisions. As a market research analyst, you will have a key role in sizing the market opportunity for new product development initiatives, as well as quantifying our market penetration rates of our existing portfolio and the remaining sales opportunities. This role interacts with a large cross-section of the business, from account managers, marketing and demand generation, product management and our research team. To be successful, you'll need excellent analytical skills, an ability to learn our business and product value propositions fast, and the capability to transform your analysis into actionable insights for the business to pursue and realize the market opportunity.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leverage external market intelligence sources (e.g. Capital IQ/Hoovers) and IHS Markit proprietary data to develop methodologies for identifying target clients Analyze our current book of business (BOB) to identify trends and opportunities for upsell and cross-sell by company type (industry segment, company size etc) and current account penetration levels Manage a robust whitespace model that identifies target customers at a product/service level Analyze customer data to identify customer buying patterns and complementary products to support product positioning, bundling opportunities and value proposition development Assist with broader strategy and new product development efforts to define target market segments, size of opportunity, penetration rates, and sales tactics. Work alongside key commercial functions to ensure up-sell/cross-sell opportunities are socialized and pursued to improve business performance Contribute to regional expansion plans and account based marketing initiatives Deliver high quality whitespace analytics, presented in business intelligence platforms (e.g. Power BI) for optimum use and adoption by account managers. Monitor success and conversion of whitespace in order to continually evolve and improve target lists
The ideal candidate will possess/be:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Information Systems Management, Data Science, Market Research or relevant discipline.
3-5 or more years of relevant analytics and quantitative analysis.
One (1) or more years of data visualization/BI experience
Proficient in Excel and ability to learn new systems easily and work with large and complex datasets
Experience with data visualization and advanced Analytics (using tools such as MS Power BI, etc.)
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to achieve set deadlines and with a high attention to detail
Ability to understand business context and translate to develop appropriate data analysis
Self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team to achieve results
Demonstrated creative problem solving, proactive nature & critical reasoning abilities
Ability to form strong partnerships with stakeholders to gain an understanding of the performance drivers and underlying product value propositions
Strong investigative ability and curiosity to understand the performance of the business
Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, oral and written communication skills
Collaborative attitude, excelling in working cross-functionally with diverse personalities
Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours
