The New School's Office of Information Technology is hiring a Business Analyst. The Business Analyst will be working side by side with a team of Business Analyst. Reporting to the Business Analyst Team Lead, you will be operating in both a business functional and technical capacity. The Business Analyst will have the responsibility of gaining the confidence of business partners by managing multiple assignments and priorities as well as meeting deadlines with a quick turnaround. The Business Analyst role will consist of you troubleshooting and providing end user support. In addition you will be working on projects from inception through post development. Your role will collaborate with other members of the New School Enterprise Application, Business Intelligence and Information Technology teams. To be successful in this role you should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain complex concepts to non-technical users.
Business Analyst Responsibilities: - Perform Business Requirement Analysis. Gathering functional and technical requirements from stakeholders/functional users and producing workflows and technical specifications. - Establish, Document and Communication project plans to cross functional team members and management. – Analyze business processes to develop workflow, compose technical specifications, develop use cases and plan solutions leveraging data from a variety of Business Intelligence tools..i.e. Tableau, Hyperion. - Perform user acceptance testing. - Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements. - Serve as a liaison between stakeholders, functional users and Information Technology department. - Monitor deliverables and ensuring timely completion of projects. - Be a contributor to The New School's continuous improvement process.
- Bachelor's degree. - A minimum of 1-3 years experience in business analysis or a related field. - The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions. - Ability to work in a fast paced environment. - Experience in leading and conducting ongoing project meetings. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Competence in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and Google Suites (Google Sheets, Google Doc). - Ability to follow through on commitments. - Experience with data reporting projects.
- Experience working in a higher education IT environment. - Experience writing and reading SQL. - Experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools e.g. Tableau, Qlik, Hyperion, or Argos. - Experience working with technical and business partners to build integrations between systems.
