Institutional Analytics and Reporting is seeking an Institutional Reporting Analyst. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE,12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Associate Director of Strategy and Engagement.
Institutional Analytics and Reporting is seeking a self-motivated individual interested in contributing to the team and the university mission and who is dedicated to producing exceptionally designed and built reports, dashboards, and data-literacy education that serve and advance a culture of data-informed decision making. The incumbent will work directly with operational leadership and the university data stewards to provide decision support and facilitate the design and creation of university-facing reports and dashboards.
As a unit within University Information and Technology (UIT), Institutional Analytics and Reporting (IAR) shares and supports the University’s mission by serving as the central organization responsible for providing access to actionable and accurate information and by leading the OSU community to organize, strengthen, and advance the function and capacity of institutional reporting, analytics and data literacy. IAR supports the entire university and serves every level of data user and business need on campus. IAR is home to the Institutional Research and Business Intelligence functions of the university and leads the university data literacy efforts. The unit consists of over twenty professionals from a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds and career stages. IAR works as a team to advance the larger goals of the institution through frequent collaborations and process, data infrastructure, and reporting improvements.
The Institutional Reporting Analyst delivers high-quality Business Intelligence (BI) and Institutional Research (IR) reporting services and data visualization solutions to the OSU community that enable end users to fulfill their critical job duties and inform strategic practices to advance the university mission. In this position, the incumbent is responsible for understanding and gathering user requirements and specifications, designing interactive dashboards or reports, validating and testing the reports, and developing and maintaining analytic solutions that are appropriate for the audience and function. This individual is also responsible for delivering training and outreach programming related to the reports and dashboards they create.

Typically requires Master’s degree in Social Science (quantitative emphasis), Statistics, Education (quantitative emphasis), Engineering, Business, Information Science or Computer Science.

Ability to extract university data as well as clean and prepare accurate data sets for detailed analysis
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative data through proficiency with analytical tools (Examples: R, Tableau, Power BI, Stata, SPSS, advanced Excel, etc.)
Leadership experience on collaborative projects across diverse teams
Excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills, including the ability to explain complex data and analytical concepts to a wide audience in one-on-one, formal presentation, workshops and informal settings
Demonstrated investigative, problem-solving, and sleuthing skills
Strong capacity and affinity for learning new systems and products
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.
