This position serves the University by providing dynamic data reporting and analysis services. The position holder is an expert in the knowledge of university data as well as data typically used in post-secondary education. This position provides key information to assist with institutional policy and program decisions with the knowledge and vision that changes in technology will guide the display and reporting of data now and in the future.
This position reports to the Associate VP of Planning and Decision Support and Chief Planning Officer and is expected to independently manage day-to-day administration of data collection and reporting. In addition, the position holder will perform complex analyses, forecasting, and modeling, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data used for all University activities. The work produced by the position holder will have significant impact on decision making regarding a defined service, function, or population (student, faculty and staff, alumni). This position interacts with many campus units, as well as external agencies, and most often interacts with Institutional Research and Analytics colleagues and Academic Affairs units, particularly Student Life and Enrollment and ITS.
Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities include the collection, extraction, and manipulation of large data sets from various sources; and incorporation of applied research methods to analyze data, including appropriate interpretation of analysis results in support of the University’s planning, decision-making, strategic planning, and reaffirmation activities. Develop statistical analyses to perform educational research studies; and assist administrators, faculty and staff in the implementation of such studies, and in gathering and compiling statistics relating to the educational environment. Publications derived from institutional or national trends are expected and encouraged. Oversee the production of the university fact book. Serve as the IPEDS Keyholder and primary data reporter to the Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Higher Education Commission. Provide technical support for the maintenance of data systems within the office. The Director of IR and Analytics manages data and reporting projects, conducts statistical analyses, and reports information. The Director will extract data from enterprise resource systems and other data sources and subsequently use sound practices of data analysis and visualization. This position provides information solutions with an understanding of best practices and business intelligence. The Director develops interactive visualizations that address a variety of questions and audiences. Review, collect and evaluate national, state, and local surveys, research studies, white papers, and other relevant literature on current and best practices and other relevant topics, and present and otherwise communicate and convey these studies to college constituents. This position supervises two IR Staff. Perform other tasks as required.
Secondary Responsibilities Support the submission of various external surveys for the office and other campus units.

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of direct experience in data reporting, data science, analytics, business intelligence, methodologies and progressively higher level experiences in leadership and management roles.
