Position Summary: The Senior Director, Advancement Information Systems and Analytics is charged with the oversight of data management, reporting, and integrity, and supervises a team of people dedicated to data support, maintenance, integrity, business intelligence, and reporting. The Senior Director will develop, evaluate, and implement policies regarding information distribution and the use of hardware and software, consistent with advancement industry standards, and will also make divisional recommendations regarding hardware and software products to be purchased, installed, and maintained in conjunction with the Office of Information Technology.
The Senior Director is charged with oversight of routine data enhancements and upgrades; set-up and stabilization of Banner CRM in order to be implementation ready for a new CRM; identification and utilization of other tools to assist in business operations; the reporting and analysis of fundraising progress and pipeline reports. In addition, the Senior Director will be charged to ensure the database, and reporting undergoes a deep analysis of Systems Integration, Data and Mapping Audit, Functional Usability audit, and Gap Analysis.
The Senior Director is expected to have a keen understanding of the business needs and processes of higher education fundraising and their associated university financial requirements. The Senior Director possesses a detailed knowledge of Banner CRM, major reporting interfaces such as OBIEE and iModules, and a broad range of other software tools used in Institutional Advancement. The Senior Director should be able to set goals and solve problems in a fast-paced environment with multiple simultaneous priorities and deadlines.
(40% of Time) Using Banner CRM, iModules, OBIEE, or other tools, ensure proper support for major divisional functions (mail/phone/direct cultivation and solicitation; events; print and email distributions; acknowledgements). Oversee the creation, accuracy, and distribution of reports for development and alumni relations that support and measure these programs. Institute a culture of customer service and consultative approach across the department, and campus partners.
(35 % of Time) Oversee data integrity, including both alumni and donor records and gift processing. Regularly review existing tools and processes, improve overall records accuracies (measured by active counts, availability of emails/phone), and show significant improvement in accuracy rates over time. Oversee regular data enhancements and updates. Follow University protocol for financial administration of gift reporting; provide any needed reports to colleagues and support annual University audit.
(20% of Time) Develop, evaluate, and implement policies regarding information distribution and the use of hardware and software, consistent with advancement industry standards, and make divisional recommendations regarding hardware and software products to be purchased and installed in conjunction with the Office of Information Technology. Regularly assess divisional utilization of technology, taking responsibility for the identification/introduction/integration of new tools, ongoing training of existing tools, and resolution of major issues with OIT. Manage the divisional portfolio of technology needs addressed by OIT, and serve as divisional liaison under the direction of the AVP of Business Operations. Serve as divisional representative on various University committees related to technology and information sharing.
(5% of Time) Other duties as assigned.
Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field plus at least seven years experience in the fields of Information Services, database administration, data integrity, or systems management, or equivalent in education, training and experience are required
Three to five years Oracle SQL or MySQL experience in financial reporting environments
A Masters degree or relevant certifications are a plus
Familiarity with business processes of fundraising and constituent relations and/or direct experience with Ellucian products and services are preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Strong customer service and interpersonal communications skills, written and verbal, are required
Experience training direct reports and end-users; identifying technical/project needs and creating project charters and outlines
Evaluating and selecting systems
Familiarity with financial reporting requirements of development
General project management
Several years leadership experience in making high level reactionary decisions
