The Office of Technology Affairs provides leadership and oversight of school-wide information systems, technologies, applications and services. The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for expertise in the operations, training and support of the IU School of Medicine's business intelligence (BI) solutions. The Analyst works closely with end users, business partners, and technical teams to gather business requirements, identify optimal BI solutions, and bridging these needs with the use of business intelligence tools. The Analyst acts as a liaison and facilitator between business and technology units. The incumbent will lead projects to develop new or revised reports, data analytic capabilities, and visual solutions (e.g., dashboards) in support of internal business and education operational needs as well as responding to inquiries, surveys, and other requests from the School's external partners. The Analyst is engaged in quality assurance of BI solutions and issue resolution. This role provides education and instruction on the use of the BI environment and tools and proactively identifies, builds, and maintains relationships with business process owners and colleagues.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Build and maintain business intelligence solutions that address the reporting, business analytics, predictive analytics, and forecasting needs of the School.
Identify data sources, model, and integrate data necessary for the design and maintenance of standard and ad hoc reports and analyses as well as visual solutions such as dashboards.
Collect, integrate, and interpret/analyze data from internal and external data sources for inclusion in the school's data sets and metrics.
Conduct bench marking activities as needed.
Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts and three years of experience.
Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Experience with report building and dashboard design, basic SQL Server knowledge (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS), and extensive knowledge of business intelligence tools. Knowledge of relational data models and OLAP cubes. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence others. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, effectively work with people of different cultures, and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Ability to take responsibility for solving problems, make improvements, and deliver quality services with a customer-focused mindset in an environment that fosters understanding, collaborative teamwork, and knowledge sharing.
An educational focus in computer science, information systems, technology, statistics, or related field. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, Excel, PowerPivot), Power BI and Tableau.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Must be able to meet the essential functions of the job. Mainly a sedentary position. Some navigating between buildings on campus as departments are in various locations across campus. Able to sit for long periods of time and conduct work on a computer.
