Job Purpose Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Solutions Analyst in the Office of Technology Services (OTS). This position is responsible for a broad range of tasks on medium complexity projects from Project Management and Business Analysis to coordinating development of communication and training programs related to technologies delivered by the Office of Technology Services. The individual will apply their knowledge of business process analysis and design, and range of software products to solve client needs.
Description The Solutions Analyst cultivates and maintains relationships with key campus stakeholders; communicates complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences in a compelling, approachable manner. Looks for opportunities to leverage technology to achieve business unit objectives. Function as a “technology translator,” engaging in relationship management between IT and administrative business leadership to increase the value realized from those IT services, investments, and competencies; bridges the gap between both technical and non-technical audiences. Researches, reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develops strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes. Develops solutions to resolve complex technical issues; translates business requirements into process designs; defines standards, methods, and best practices.
This position will understand the technology and information needs of the business to determine which internal and vendor technology solutions are the right solutions for business needs. Working independently, or with a team, designs, recommends, plans, develops and supports implementation of project-specific IT solutions to meet tactical and strategic business and University goals. Works to gain an understanding of the tools and technologies being implemented. Provides project assistance for dynamic, cross-functional system implementations and integrations, resource management, and communications. Ensures all project deliverables and outcomes are implemented within scope to meet expectations of project sponsor. May lead or assist with special projects, including enterprise-wide projects. Assists PMO Director with defining and updating analysis processes and approach, as well as refining liaison methods as necessary.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three years of business and/or business system analysis and project management experience, including performing the role of a Business/Solutions Analyst. Proven ability to design and optimize business processes and to integrate business processes across disparate systems. Proven ability to explain critical integration intra- and inter- touch-points of the respective application and module. Exposure to multiple, diverse higher education business systems, cloud platforms, technologies, and processing environments. (e.g. PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Cloud ERP, Data Transformation tools, DocuSign, Business Intelligence Platforms). Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats with both technical and business staff. Excellent problem-solving skills involving complex problems.
Experience working in the higher education industry; with Salesforce, Taleo, Informatica, and PeopleSoft; experience in Data Analysis and Business Analytics preferred. Experience with agile project management methodology; ability to build strong partnerships in a wide range of roles across the campus and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical team members also preferred.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
