Under the limited direction of the Director, the Senior Financial Data Analyst has overall responsibility for providing analytical support to solve a wide range of complex issues/problems surrounding the college enrollment, cost efficiencies, financial and business systems. Responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. This position requires an experienced professional with significant expertise and initiative and professional decorum as the incumbent works directly and closely with the Dean, Deputy Dean, Associate Deans, and Departmental Chairs and Directors.
Significantly influences and contributes towards the achievement of College’s strategic and operational objectives by providing analytical support to solve a wide range of complex issues/problems surrounding the college enrollment, cost efficiencies, and financial and business systems.
Responsible for collaborating and consultation with undergraduate recruitment and student data projects. This includes trend analysis, forecasting, and providing data sets.
Develops and examines all financial data, student enrollment trends and projections, and reviews all faculty workload data and uses this information to make implementation recommendations to the leadership team to improve operational efficiencies.
Oversees and assists in preparing data based presentations to support strategic and operational planning and decision-making initiatives. This requires the amalgamation of dozens to hundreds of complex data sets and reports into a singular source document that is used for strategic and operational decision making by the Dean.
Creates and maintains Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for enrollment, department efficiencies, and retention of students overall and by subgroups.
Oversees the design, development, and maintenance of appropriate maps, graphs, and dashboards that provide clear, accessible statistics for decision-makers.
Regularly monitors departmental financial and enrollment data throughout the cycle to detect anomalies or changes in trends that could indicate changes in fiscal behavior.
Identifies and designs appropriate quantitative measures and instruments; survey design, deployment and analysis; benchmarking; and statistical modeling.
Conducts quasi-experimental studies to determine program impact and efficacy.
Prepare materials to summarize and justify program financial/budgetary requests, including data gathering/reporting and trend analysis in connection with financial/budgetary formulation and administration.
Serves on critical data, research, and IT-related campus and system-wide committees. Serves as subject matter expert representing the College on these campus-wide committees.
Responsible for creating and managing business intelligence, data policies, procedures and standards within the college.
Adapts as needed to meet any changes in the direction and/or function of the position.
Bachelor’s degree and six years of progressively responsible professional financial and data management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree and higher education experience preferred.
Broad understanding and current knowledge of data tracking methodologies relating to enrollment trends, enrollment management, and financial issues in higher education is preferred.
Experience using relational databases. Demonstrated competence in the areas of database and dashboard design using tools such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
Strong analytical and logical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
Extensive experience working with complex files/tables and data sets and experience using data for strategic planning purposes.
Ability to work quickly, manage multiple projects, and work independently with strong commitment to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated time-management and priority-setting skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports based on analysis and to convey technical conclusions to a non-technical audience.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
