Supporting these groups, as well as the separate Emergency Management team, are the Business Intelligence & Information Technology group and the Finance & Administration group. Building Services Department (BSD) has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing & Outreach Specialist to establish long-range goals, objectives, strategies, and assume a leadership role in initiating and implementing marketing, communication, and outreach projects for BSD, which oversees Custodial Services and UW Recycling. Responsible for the design, development, coordination and operation of the comprehensive marketing & outreach program for BSD. Collaborating with all members of the BSD team, the UW Facilities Communications team, and the UW Facilities Care Team, the Marketing & Outreach Specialist will perform professional level program management and administration to coordinate the implementation and evaluation of marketing strategies.Primary Duties and Responsibilities*This position reports directly to the Director of BSD and is a part of the BSD senior leadership team.*Manage multiple medium to large projects at any given time, including workgroup initiatives, pilot programming, and cross-functional initiatives that actively support the department's values, mission, and vision.*Develop and implement long-range goals, timelines, objectives and department wide strategies. Work to grow, continuously improve, and evaluate the Building Services Department program that provides custodial and waste reduction solutions to support the health of our campus and our planet. *Support department associate directors, managers, supervisors and team members with their continuous process improvement program and initiatives by developing goals, visual materials, and administrative support.*Coordinate with the UW Facilities Customer Care team and the UW Facilities Communications team to integrate and to identify and resolve gaps in the customer experience. Administer and report on customer service survey and monitor social media engagement.*Produce marketing materials in print and electronic form to promote Custodial Services and UW Recycling programs and explain program elements. Lead and facilitate innovative practices at the University of Washington. Participate in strategic planning and performance measurement initiatives.*Assume a leadership role in organizing and conducting community outreach events. Prepare, publicize, conduct and attend presentations, workshops, meetings, and other events with University faculty, staff and students and external guests. Work with other UW departments, units and campuses to create and implement strategies and services to effectively reach the UW community and are most likely to change their behavior.*Give partners the most up-to-date BSD program information and coordinate with other on-campus and off-campus marketing, public information and news organizations to ensure that information concerning Custodial Services and UW Recycling programs are current and accurately reflect departmental goals. *Participate as an active and collaborative member of the Building Services management team. Provide effective leadership of diverse team members and actively support the division's values, mission and vision. Participate in strategic planning and performance measurement initiatives to review policies, products, and program administration in each transportation area and bring them into greater alignment with the goals and strategies of the Climate Action Plan and greater goals of the University.*Create and implement marketing, communication and outreach plans for Building Services strategic planning and quality management programs and all supporting initiatives. Creates and implements graphic identity and branding systems. *Administer budgets and meet other reporting requirements of the Custodial Services and UW Recycling marketing programs. *Develop and manage the implementation of design standards, style guides and comprehensive branding strategies for Custodial Services and UW Recycling. Participate in UW Marketing's process for development and implementation of University-wide branding and identity standards and strategies.*Work with Creative Communications and UW Marketing to assure that Building Services Department and UW Facilities marketing and communication initiatives reflect University branding and priorities. Works with external agencies and entities to develop and coordinate marketing strategies for information that has an impact on the University community.*Develop, design, write, edit and publish materials for print, online and video formats - including advertisements, brochures, flyers, letters, presentations, reports and social media content. Conduct research, interviews, take photos and create original written content for UW Facilities blog articles. Develop graphic design elements and layouts for annual reports, signage, labels, and promotional items. Create and manage marketing and information programs. Update and create content for BSD websites; collaborate with UW Facilities' web team.*Responsible for all communication and marketing efforts associated with Custodial Services and UW Recycling in addition to marketing/communication support for Building Services-level initiatives. Develops comprehensive, research-driven marketing and communication campaigns. Researches, writes and markets news stories to campus media partners with the goal of gaining the widest possible favorable exposure for Custodial Services and UW Recycling and the University of Washington.*Represent UW Facilities, Custodial Services and UW Recycling at University meetings and at meetings or conferences with the general public. Interact with clients, faculty, staff, governmental agencies, vendors and the public regarding policies and procedures for Custodial Services and UW Recycling when necessary. Serve on various committees within the University and related organizations.
