Executive Director of Budget Planning & Strategic Analysis
Office of Strategic Budgeting & Planning is pleased to announce the creation of a new leadership position in the office in support of our integrated planning and budgeting mission, the Executive Director of Budget Planning & Strategic Analysis. Under the direction of the AVP, the Executive Director will participate in the university's strategic planning process and develop analyses and implementation strategies to support university goals. This position will assist the AVP in advancing a premier financial planning and analysis operation by continuing to improve our existing processes and oversight and management of planning and management reporting efforts. This position will work to enhance the quality of analytics including a robust modeling capacity to support financial and capital-related initiatives.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
With AVP, responsible for developing, managing and implementing the University's strategic planning and budget processes for all units, including establishing a planning calendar with action items, milestones, timelines and responsible areas;
Develop multiple budget planning scenarios to optimize revenue and related operational margins and change in net assets to achieve goals established in the University's strategic plan;
Responsible for all Non-Tuition Revenue and Auxiliary Enterprise Revenue, including trend analysis and proforma forecasting for all items including grants, advancement gifts and donations;
Work on financial aid historic trend analysis and proforma forecasting for all aid categories [Shift to Executive Director of Budget Ops b/cos, which aligns better with enrollment modeling and forecasting];
Actively engage university stakeholders in financial planning and forecasting process to ensure 100% transparency, institutional buy-in, and departmental accountability for financial results and forecast;
Support AVP and Provost Office in providing guidance, data and financial modeling for University Budget & Planning Advisory Committee;
Examine and measure the success of initiatives to determine their continued contribution. Work with others to evaluate new venture possibilities and strategic resource allocations;
Lead Operations Manager in the development of a new internal capital planning and budgeting process;
Provide insight to develop and implement technology and other solutions to meet critical timelines to support strategic plan, multi-year financial plan, annual budgets, bi-annual forecasts, quarterly reporting packets and other related ongoing analyses.
Primary Organizational Relationships: IR, Provost's Office, BMAG
Advanced degree in Business Administration, Public Policy/Public Administration, Finance or related discipline. At least 10 years of progressively responsible financial or administrative management preferably in a Higher Ed environment;
Experience with business intelligence systems preferred;
Ability to present complex concepts and/or financial models to a broad range of constituents;
Proven ability to work independently in analyzing and resolving complex financial problems;
Extensive experience with planning models and systems;
Ability to develop a deep understanding of key performance drivers across the university in order to deliver value-added business analysis with meaningful financial and operational metrics to support executive-level decision-making.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
