The Data Warehouse Architect will be responsible for the overall architecture, design, development and maintenance of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for new and existing data warehouse platforms while aligning to enterprise standards. Work on small to large projects ranging in complexity to identify, analyze, specify and model BI needs and requirements as related to the Data Warehouse.
Responsibilities: • Architecture and implementation of data warehouse solutions to support the business intelligence and analytical needs of the organization • Database architecture and design of data warehouse subject areas • Create and maintain systems architecture documentation. • Ensure completeness and compatibility of infrastructure to support system performance, availability and architectural requirements • Apply standards, best practices and design patterns when practical/justified to deliver solutions. • Assess capability gaps, determine solution options and approach, and define solution scope • Track industry trends and maintain knowledge of new technologies to better serve the organization’s data warehouse and reporting needs. • Work through architecture exception process when necessary. • Communicate with business users and project managers to resolve business problems and create solutions • Lead other data warehouse team members and work closely with other development managers to assure overall integrity of the data warehouse
Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience • 7+ years of Data Stage design and programming experience • 7+ years of SQL experience and advanced understanding of relational and data warehouse DBMS environment. Star schema, snow-flaking, slowly changing dimensions, aggregate table design and navigation, operational data stores, data marts, etc • 7+ years of data warehouse and multidimensional database architecture and design experience • Experience using multiple SDLC methodologies and best practices, preferably in the development of Data Warehouse solutions • Strong understanding of metadata and data quality concepts • Ability to mentor and lead business and technical teams through design walkthroughs • Multi-task oriented person with proven self-management, prioritization, and organizational skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Established proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs
Preferred Qualifications: • 3 - 5 years Property and Casualty Insurance experience • 3 - 5 years Experience with Cognos reporting tools, DataStage (ETL) and Oracle databases • Experience with logical, physical, and dimensional data modeling • 2-4 Years Experience with Cloud Technologies AWS and Google Cloud • Experience with business intelligence reporting tools for analytic, standard and ad-hoc reporting solutions
