The Associate Director of Sales Operations helps manage the activities and processes that drive the Business Development team to sell better, faster, and more efficiently. The Associate Director supports the custom proposal process, serves as Account Manager for a large slice of Whartonâ™s multi-million-dollar China business, qualifies targeted incoming leads, generates and analyzes data and forecasts, and oversees BD utilization and development of the Salesforce CRM platform.
Assists with the custom proposal process.Â Helps with writing of proposals in collaboration with the Business Development team. Maintains knowledge management systems, processes and tools including but not limited to templates, libraries, RFPs, FAQs, and program pedagogies (needs assessments, action learning).Â Manages certain proposal logistics, including set-up of procurement portals and downloading platform-based RFPs.
Oversees BD utilization and development of Salesforce CRM platform; works with BD and IT teams to discover and implement increasingly sophisticated system features and best practices in order to gain from the platform as much benefit as possible.Â Prepares and submits certain reports to senior management based on Salesforce data.
Serves as Account Manager for all China business coming from Applied Strategy.Â Guides and prepares detailed proposals, drafts contractual agreements, and follows through on accounts from initial interest through execution.
Qualifies targeted incoming leads and articulates value proposition of WEE.Â Cross sellsÂ Custom, OE and Online Learning programs and capabilities. Qualifies RFPs to recommend bid or no bid, as well as serve as RFP initial point of contact.Â
Conducts business intelligence inquiries -- Supports strategic business development and sales through background research on key prospects and clients andÂ developing strategic prospect lists in collaboration with the Business Development team.Â Conducts research about best practices within the industry and competitor benchmarks.
Partners with external stakeholders within Wharton and Penn to determine and realize synergies.Â Represents the Business Development team at certain cross-division meetings.
Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years' experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.Â Relevant sales experience including a practical understanding of Executive Education for middle and/or senior level executives.
Independent, self-confident, and highly credible in representing WEE. Ability to communicate ideas to senior and executive audiences whether on phone calls, in meetings, or through written communication. Proven ability to work within a team environment and on project teams. A strong desire to contribute and work collaboratively to achieve goals.
A successful candidate will have strong business acumen, good business development skills, consultative selling, persuasion and negotiating skills, and a knowledge of management education topics: strategy, leadership, finance, accounting, operations, marketing, organizational behavior and business ethics.
Candidates should be detail-oriented, extremely well-organized, and meticulous about crafting high-quality work.Â Proficiency in Powerpoint and Word highly preferred, specifically the ability to create compelling, well-written, and well-designed proposals.
