Under the direction of the Senior Director of Business Operations and Intelligence and in collaboration with the Medical Services Team, Finance, Executive and other departments, the Business Intelligence Manager will develop and improve data solutions including monthly statistics, profitability analyses, performance metrics and compliance reports, using such programs as Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Microsoft SQL, ArcGIS, and Crystal Reports. The Business Intelligence Manager will identify and replicate best practices around key business processes and provide direct support to users of NextGen, the agency’s practice management (PM) and electronic medical records (EMR) software. Additionally, the Business Intelligence Manager will serve as an enthusiastic partner in launching and sustaining new large-scale business initiatives and ongoing business intelligence work. Through these efforts, the Business Intelligence Manager will support and promote a team-based, customer-focused, results oriented service model that achieves business, operational, clinical and financial goals.
Essential Functions: • Create and deploy custom Business Intelligence solutions that enable leaders and key business users to link operational performance data to outcomes; Prepare high-value, professional written, visual, and oral presentations of key data and analyses. • Supervise the Business Intelligence Coordinator(s) and motivate and coach employee(s); collaborate with the Business Operations and Medical Services teams on new health services and operations initiatives. • Prepare statistical reports in Tableau, using data from PM and EMR reports via Microsoft SQL queries. • Prepare succinct and eye-catching PPIL board presentation(s) using data analytics and visualization. • Manage the preparation and transmission of data for vendor’s information warehouse. • Coordinate data systems integration across the agency; where possible, facilitate cross-departmental/cross-disciplinary applied use of data. • Conduct comprehensive business audits of health centers and administrative staff to verify accuracy and compliance. • Oversee the data request helpdesk and ensure timely response to customers. • Through these activities demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to PPIL core values of access, activism, care, confidentiality, diversity, excellence, integrity, respect, self determination, and stewardship; practice these values in relations with internal and external customers. Other Responsibilities: • Produce monthly statistical reports for health center managers, the Medical Services and Senior Management teams, and other parties as required, using Tableau, SQL, and other programs as needed. • Manage, triage, and fulfill internal and external data requests. • Ensure accurate and timely compliance reporting, in conjunction with the Risk & Quality Management Department. • Serve as an advocate and spokesperson for new business operations initiatives/projects. • Provide targeted, prompt ad-hoc training to business users as needs arise; proactively integrate this knowledge into standard training materials. • Assist with tickets on the NextGen helpdesk. • Coordinate with Business Operations and Intelligence team and other departments to develop and maintain a Data Reporting Methodology, Definitions & Standards handbook that captures all data definitions as they relate to BOI. • Perform other duties as assigned.

Status: Full-time, exempt from the overtime provision of wage and salary regulations.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required. Superior written and verbal communications skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other common Windows programs is required. Experience using Tableau to create and package workbooks required. Ability to write Microsoft SQL queries, create Crystal Reports, and use Geographic Information Systems preferred. Expertise in the preparation and analysis of data, with an ability to adapt to changing environments and demands, is essential. Experience conducting end user training in both classroom and one-on-one settings, including creation of training documents and tools for system implementation and upgrades, is preferred. Must possess an ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Demonstration of effective interpersonal and organizational skills, including ability to work with diverse groups of employees at all levels. Possess excellent customer service skills and commitment to providing the highest level of service to all internal and external customers. Must be able to problem solve and multi-task effectively, follow through with complex assignments, and work under time constraints. Have excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel; candidates may be asked to take a short assessment demonstrating proficiency. Be experienced in running Microsoft SQL queries, preparing Tableau workbooks, and creating Crystal Reports; or be able to learn quickly. Be independently motivated to meet project management goals and objectives. Possess the ability to achieve certification of NextGen EPM/EHR system within 12 months of hire. Be willing to participate as a team member and work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required. Must be willing to travel throughout the Illinois area to all PPIL sites.
