Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid Operations, the Business Analyst is responsible for SFS reporting and data analysis. The Business Analyst utilizes data and reporting from PowerFaids, Datatel Colleague, Student Forms, Salesforce and Workday to form comprehensive reports that support enrollment and retention goals. This role is a primary contact for Student Financial Services to Technology Resources and Institutional Research, and supports Berklee's institutional scholarship programs through analysis of data designed to inform scholarship awarding for incoming and continuing students.
3+ years of financial aid experience, particularly in a highly automated environment
Familiarity with federal, state and institutional aid policies
Ability to join data from various databases and systems into workable data sets.
Proficiency with database query tools; ability to use coding language to select, extract, and manipulate data.
Experience with business intelligence tools, advanced Excel skills, Tableau or other data visualization tools a plus.
Significant experience and expertise with student information systems, including PowerFaids and Colleague. Workday experience a plus.
Experience and expertise with building and running reports in student information systems
Ability to synthesize and report data to management
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously with efficiency and attention to detail
Understanding of strategic enrollment management principles.
Use of Capabilities (Illustrated by Typical Activities)
Build, run and synthesize reports to track institutional awards and share information with enrollment management and institutional research partners.
Document reporting processes and procedures.
Work closely with various college constituencies to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data.
Prepare financial aid reports and present data graphically and in narrative form; report distribution will include both unit-level stakeholders as well as members of the senior leadership team.
Represent student financial services office in technology and systems implementation projects, ensuring data is accurate and accessible for reporting purposes.
Prepare reports to inform financial aid awarding and budget management for entering and continuing students.
Provide redundancy to the SFS Systems Manager by participating in systems testing, set-up and maintenance of all systems in use by Student Financial Services.
