Description of Responsibilities: The Accounting Assistant, within the Finance Office, is responsible for administering the campus travel and net card program and will verify all reconciliations related to both programs, as well as audit receipts to ensure all New York State travel guidelines are followed. The Assistant will also serve as the campus representative for the program in all matters, including training and outreach to departments across campus. Under the direction of the Director of Accounting, will be responsible for all posting to the banner general ledger accounts for various processes throughout the month, reconciling accounts and assisting the director in the bi-monthly revenue transfer process and balancing at the end of each quarter. The Accounting Assistant also works with College Departments on requests for course related fee updates and for all approved fees, the setup in banner for billing purposes.
Additional Responsibilities Also Include:
Prepare cash reports for the Director, research accounts as directed.
Create vendors and process write-off’s as needed.
Reconciling fund accounts daily.
Assist accounts payable and travel clerks with payment processing as needed.
Supervise Student Employees in the Finance Office

Description of Department: Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Finance & Budget, the primary function of the Finance office is to serve as the primary payment center for the university. The office is responsible for the payment of all goods and services received at the institution as well as monitoring, managing and controlling the campus budget in excess of $110m. We serve as the counsel for all financial decisions and oversight of the Business Intelligence account data inquiry system.
Bachelor’s degree in business related field by time of appointment
3 years’ financial experience in a business office setting (i.e. accounting, billing, budget, finance)
Demonstrated high proficiency in Microsoft Suite of applications (i.e. excel, word, access)
