Senior Manager, International Strategic Initiatives Dana Farber Cancer Institute Boston, MA
The Senior Manager of International Strategic Initiatives will support DFCI’s strategic plan to attract and better serve our international patients as well as developing partnerships with outside organizations. Reporting to the Director of International Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Manager will collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and partner with peer institutions, including Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, in examining and developing new business opportunities. As a member of the broader Business Initiatives and Alliances Department, the Senior Manager will work closely with the International Strategic Initiatives team to manage international growth initiatives, including partnerships with external entities and strategies aimed to grow the international oncology patient referral business, particularly in the Middle East region. This individual will support the planning and execution of partnerships and subsequently manage statements of work and projects with external entities.
Responsible for drafting collaboration proposals, statement of work documents, business terms for legal agreements, and budgets/proposed fees for potential international collaborations under supervision of the VP of Business Initiatives and Alliances and the Director of International Strategic Initiatives.
Manage international relationship development activities focused on increasing international patient referrals including coordination and executive of outreach events held at DFCI and around the world.
Manage development of key relationships including those with Business Councils, Embassies, Consulates and Governmental Agencies in the US and internationally.
Serve as a primary administrative point of contact for international stakeholders, particularly in the Middle East region and engages Institute clinical and administrative leaders as appropriate.
Conduct market analysis and research of potential international partners, including examining the healthcare landscape in country/region; prepare summary reports for senior leadership on market research findings.
Coordinate with various departments across the Institute to ensure alignment on proposal scope, deliverables with available resources.
Develop briefing documents for Senior Leadership on potential partners, including development of talking points during executive-level meetings with external organization.
Responsible for overseeing site visits to DFCI from international external entities in collaboration with the International Strategic Initiatives team, Institute departments and peer organizations (i.e. BWH, BCH).
Responsible for managing the execution of project deliverables for key strategic international collaborations which are outlined under the Statement(s) of Work documents and escalating appropriately when issues arise.
Manage day-to-day project operations including coordinating internal resources across all levels of the institution including Senior Leaders, Physicians, Nurses, Pharmacists, Quality and Patient Safety Experts, etc.
Manage both internal and external project meeting schedules and facilitate meetings required to execute work.
Develop routine progress reports on project status to internal stakeholders and to partner organizations.
Manage time and effort tracking, revenue tracking, and document storage for key strategic collaborations.
Update Project Team on progress and escalates issues promptly when appropriate.
It is expected that this role will eventually have 1-2 direct reports as the team grows.
Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s Degree such as MPH, MBA, MHA, MSPH or equivalent degree strongly desired.
Minimum of 5+ years related experience in strategy, business planning, business development or project management in healthcare.
Knowledge of or fluency of foreign languages, specifically Arabic, is preferred.
Must be able to travel internationally approximately 20% of the time.
International business experience strongly preferred.
Ability to work effectively with executive, physician, nursing, administrative and ancillary staff; relationship building and collaboration with employees and managers.
Exceptional communication skills; must possess the ability to converse effectively and prepare written proposals, analyses and other documents in a manner readily understood by and crafted for the target audience.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Publisher, Visio. Strong Excel.
Strong client orientation and interpersonal skills.
Strong understanding of structures and dynamics within matrixed institutions, as well as multi-institutional relationships and complexities.
Strong project management skills required and ability to solve problems independently, and use independent judgment in making decisions as appropriate.
High degree of flexibility and adaptability to manage change.

Ability to analyze contracts and business intelligence data.
