The University of Maine System is seeking applications for the position of Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Team Lead.
The Coordinator, Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse is a key strategic position within the central University of Maine System IT division responsible for the design, development and management of a robust data warehouse and business intelligence technical environment used for reporting and analytics across the University. This position will coordinate and manage the activities of a team technical staff, both employees and consultants, in the design, development and delivery of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions to produce high-quality and reliable business intelligence output to support strategic University initiatives. Extensive knowledge in data ingestion, integration, predictive modelling and data visualization is required. Expertise in data warehouse strategies from conception to implementation is desired.
Using keen analytical skills and a strategic mindset, the Coordinator, Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse will partner with a diverse community of stakeholders system-wide to evaluate business needs, translate business needs into data analytics requirements, and ensuring these needs have been met successfully by directing the activities of technical staff.
Works with stakeholders to understand business needs and translates how technology can be applied for data collection, transformation, analysis and presentation; assist in strategic and operational planning and continuous business process improvement
Serves as technical lead on data warehouse and business intelligence projects; coordinates definition of project scope, resource/cost estimates, and project timelines
Develops and maintains complex data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes using available tools
Establishes and performs testing procedures for ETL processes, data quality assurance and BI application output integrity; responsible for reporting metrics of integration such as performance (volume, velocity and variety) and availability
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, database management or a related field required.
At least five years experience writing and troubleshooting complex Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and T-SQL. At least one year experience developing ETL processes.
Experience working within Data Warehouse environments while simultaneously building a modern analytics architecture; mapping a path towards a consolidated data framework.
Experience in Agile and Scrum practices, rapid prototyping, innovation-focused development cycles, and continuous delivery and integration practices.
Experience in working with outsourced resources and managed services contracts.
