SUNY Geneseo is searching for a team member to join the Human Resources and Payroll Services Department as an Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources). The ideal candidate will have exceptional time management skills, a keen eye for detail, effective customer service skills and the willingness to help out as needed.
They will be responsible for diligently processing appointments using multiple human resources systems, including SUNY HR, NYSTEP, PayServ, and Business Intelligence. Works under the direction of the Appointment and Compensation Manager to process appointments, create appointment letters, and assist with employee on-boarding in accordance with strict deadlines. Primary focus for this position will be appointments of part-time faculty, student teaching supervisors, part-time coaches, summer/intercession appointments and temporary hires.
Required Qualifications MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have permanent appointment in an Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources), SG-14 classified position or be reachable for appointment on the current NY State Civil Service canvass list for SUNY Geneseos area location for an Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources), SG-14 position, or, be transfer eligible.
New York State Preferred Lists candidates have preference.

Job Duties/Responsibilities Function 1: Appointment Processing:
-Processes appointments and changes in status (compensation changes, term renewals, promotions, extra service appointments, reclassifications, line changes, permanent/continuing appointment, chair stipends, etc.) in the SUNY HR Position and Employment Systems and NYSTEP for unclassified and classified employment in accordance with SUNYBOT Policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements, NYS Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Office of the State Comptroller requirements, and campus guidelines. -Reviews and processes appointments for part-time faculty and part-time coach positions. -Assists Appointment and Compensation Manager with summer session appointments. -Learns methods to identify exception appointments (ie. part-time vs full-time faculty loads, extra service vs. additional salary, etc.). Function 2: Appointment Letter and Employment Contract Preparation-Prepares appointment letters for presidents and/or vice presidents signature.-Appointment letters are prepared in accordance with SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees, SUNY policies and procedures, union contracts, NYS Department of Civil Service appointment policies, and SUNY Geneseo policies/guidelines related to employment, appointment, and position management.-Appointments must also adhere to the NYS Payroll Calendar and the internal HR deadline calendar.
