Data Profiler and Reporting Systems Analyst (PT 4) - Information Technology Services 13888
The Information Technology Services Department at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Data Profiler and Reporting Systems Analyst PT 4. This position is responsible for leading projects by eliciting general data needs from end users to develop effective strategies, solutions, and designs.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Provide designs and recommend alternative solutions through critical analysis and expert knowledge of the application and supporting technology.
Facilitate efficient project progress by delegating appropriate tasks to team members.
Share knowledge and ideas with technical and functional staff to accomplish project deliverables.
Utilize technical/application skills within functional/project area and with stakeholders to critically identify and communicate opportunities for broadened reporting capacity.
Lead the efforts to analyze requirements against industry best practices in order to design and implement enterprise-level solutions that meet business needs and align with WVU's strategic and technical vision.
Utilize technical/application analytical skills to analyze WVU's organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation in support of our enterprise reporting needs.
Prioritize actions and communicate feedback to management.
Collaborate and interact with business users to elicit business requirements; translating those requirements into functional and technical specifications.
Lead the design and implementation of all the components of WVU's enterprise reporting infrastructure (Metadata, ETL, OBIEE RPD, Reports, and Dashboards).
Identify institutional weakness in reporting, data governance, and data standards; recommending alternatives and solutions to deliver continuous improvement in WVU's enterprise reporting and analytic capabilities.
Lead agreed upon initiatives.
Lead efforts for capacity planning and tuning for performance of Reports and Dashboards.
Utilize considerable analytical skills to identify and solve problem situations.
Continually evaluate, research, develop, and maintain complex solutions using evolving methodologies to keep pace with new technologies.
Communicate information clearly, accurately and timely to team members and business users.
Invest time and effort to learn changing technology and application landscape.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Finance or a related field.
Five (5) years of experience with:
SQL is required. SQL and PL/SQL is preferred.
Relational databases and data structures is required. Oracle 12c is preferred.
Leading medium to large sized project teams to deliver against project timelines is required.
Data analysis/reporting is required. Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) is preferred.
Enterprise Resource Planning System (Oracle Enterprise Business Suite Grant/Financial module is preferred).
Demonstrates ability to apply statistics, analytical thinking, and solving complex problems.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Ability to communicate to technical and non-technical personnel.
Ability to overcome internal resistance to change processes. Ability to communicate changes to affected team members and educate them on the training process and tools enabling the changes.
Ability to drive discussions with multiple subject matter experts to draw out their knowledge and bring them to a consensus.
Motivation and a clear understanding of the big picture; courage to push for change; perseverance to finish everything he/she starts.
Skills in communication (oral and written), problem solving, and process analysis.
Understanding of IT processes and system flow. Comfortable communicating and presenting to technical and business resources (technical and non-technical personnel).
Proven experience with relational databases and structures
Proven experience with data analysis techniques.
Proven experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL.
Proven experience with learning and adjusting to changing technical environments.
Working knowledge of the Oracle E-Business Suite preferred
Proficiency in OBIEE (or similar ERP System) preferred; developing and maintaining complex RPD models and resulting Reports and Dashboards.
Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio programs.
Broad knowledge of business application development methodologies.
