Provide advanced support of cost-effective information technology solutions by creating new, modifying, and supporting existing software applications. Undertakes complex projects requiring specialized technical knowledge and innovative thinking.
As a member of WashU IT Enterprise Applications Production & Operations team, you will provide escalated support for the University’s key administrative and enterprise systems including HR, Finance, Student, Business Intelligence, etc. This position will work a combination of incidents, service requests, operational tasks and technical debt improvement projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct work flow study and analysis of business practices
Analyze and document existing processes as they relate to information technology solutions
Code, monitor, maintain, test, and debug software applications
Follow established change management processes
Facilitate code reviews and enforce code standards
Develop and execute test plan development
Research and evaluate new technology, products, specialized hardware and tools to optimize development and functionality of applications.
Make recommendations to management and customers
Assist in ensuring team members complete tasks as assigned, taking corrective action to stay on schedule
Support complex operational activities and recoveries
Coordinate with software vendors and external service providers
Troubleshoot escalated software bugs and provide fixes
Provide off hours support, as needed
Provide, cultivate and foster excellent customer service
Enforce adherence to departmental standards
Instruct, train, and guide less experienced staff
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, plus 3 years relevant technology experience or equivalent combination of education & experience
Bachelor’s in a technical discipline
7 years relevant technology experience
Prior experience in a higher education technology environment

Must be enthusiastic and committed to helping others and exhibit the ability to quickly assess the specific needs of the customer to determine an appropriate course of action. Must be able to quickly defuse stressful or anxious situations.
Advanced technical knowledge of application systems and analysis, as well as industry best practices
Ability to research and implement new technologies in specialty or related areas
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently
Champion continual improvement of internal processes and procedures
Ability to consult with clients and higher level technicians and analysts to resolve technical problems and ensure customer satisfaction
Ability to interact with customers to discuss and recommend alternative technical solutions
Ability to work extra hours and recognize the need to do so
The hiring range for this position is $71,323 - $92,789 annually.
