The Database Developer/Programmer is responsible for designing, developing and testing database solutions and bi-directional ETL (extract, transform, and load) integration processes between various CMU systems; is part of a team supporting interfaces and processes for the movement of data between systems, as well as helps develop reports and dashboards for data presentation and is a primary resource for technical support and maintenance of data structures and interfaces. Also assists with research and development to enable continuing innovation within OIT's infrastructure.
Database Developer/Programmer I: Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience. One year of related computer/technical experience. One year of experience related to database design, modeling and development. One year of experience in advanced SQL programming. One year of experience with ETL (extract, transform, and load) processes and data interfaces. One year of experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack having Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS. Ability to research and resolve complex technical issues. Excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills that can foster, demonstrate, and promote excellence in a team environment. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and project a positive and professional attitude. Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to learn quickly, meet established deadlines, and demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to manage timelines and deliverables, to create and manage task lists, and to meet work and project schedules as determined by others. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Database Developer/Programmer II: All the qualifications of Database Developer/Programmer I, plus: Two additional years of experience related to database design, modeling and development. Two additional years of experience in advanced SQL programming. Two additional years of experience with ETL processes and data interfaces. Two additional years of experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack having Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS. Two years of experience working with a self-service tool, preferably Power BI or Tableau. Two years of experience with data preparation, data gateway and data warehousing projects. Ability to gather and analyze user needs and create specifications to meet user requirements. Ability to work with user offices and subject matter experts in creating solutions using core supported systems. Ability to participate in cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues. Ability to recommend and implement changes in development, maintenance and overall system standards. Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects.
