The Assistant Director of Enrollment Management / Data & Reporting Manager is part of the Owen Graduate School of Management (OGSM) at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor to the Enrollment Management Team. Primary responsibilities will be related to Enrollment Management activities and centralization of data and reporting needs to support all programs--MBA, MS Finance, Master of Marketing, Master of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy Valuation, Executive MBAExecutive Edge, Executive MBA-Global Immersion, Master of Management in Health Care, and Accelerator Immersions--and to support data and reporting needs across several departments-- Recruiting and Admissions Office, Student Programs Office, Career Management Center, Events and Enrollment Management. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Enrollment Management.
From the Data Manager standpoint, the position works to create a centralized function for data collection and data reporting to ensure data accuracy, consistency and collection of key metrics for each program and/or department. This includes creating/editing source import layouts, importing data files, and running queries to audit data across programs using the Slate CRM/application system. From the Reporting standpoint, the Assistant Director works closely with program staff to build, analyze and create a robust reporting system to be used internally and at the senior management level. NOTE: Most of the reporting will be done through Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (PIE) Office formerly known as Vanderbilt Institute Research Group (VIRG) via centralized tools. However, the translation of the business requirements to the PIE group is an essential part of this role. S/He works to analyze current reporting options to determine viability, relevance and accuracy. S/He works to create new dashboards and reporting outputs as well as to contribute to the exploration, analysis, development, execution and measurement of analytical solutions that are critical to running this business. In additional to the Data Manager and Reporting responsibilities, the Assistant Director (along with the Director of Enrollment Management) will be expected to provide technical assistance to the enrollment management specialists and program staff.

The Assistant Director of Enrollment Management & Data Manager function is a newly created role that will support all programs and multiple offices across the entire school to centralize data and reporting needs. The role will be focused on current assessment of data and reporting tools, anticipating future data and reporting needs, as well as being a vital member of the Enrollment Management Team. This function is a self-motivated initiative that will operate with direction from the Director of Enrollment Management in ensuring data integrity and creating a more formal data and reporting structure to support strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities
Own and manage the full import process within Owen Slate system.
Provide assistance to Enrollment Management Team and program staff in regard to retrieving or interpreting data.
Support management in addressing strategic questions and informing decision making through the design, execution, and effective communication of rigorous data analyses
Is the point person for all data that is released both internally and externally to ensure accuracy and consistency for reporting purposes
Creates, reviews and updates the daily Slate reports for relevancy, accuracy, timing, format
Conduct and oversee analyses related to areas of strategic importance, create presentations, generate reports and communicate key findings that will inform decisions made by the senior leadership team
Provides key enrollment and placement analysis, program assessment, data quality assurance, trend analysis, market analysis and predictive modeling
Fulfill ongoing and ad-hoc requests for key metrics and other data for both internal and external stakeholders
Partner with the Directors of key teams across multiple programs (Recruiting/Admissions, Student Programs, Career Management Center, Enrollment Management, Events) to help identify key metrics to measure and to highlight in the dashboards and daily reports
Become an organizational resource for staff, faculty and students with strong knowledge from collection of data through reporting & analysis
Identify best practices in data analysis, modeling, visualization and communication
Profile of an Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's Degree is necessary (Master's Degree is preferred)
Must have a supportive nature and an open attitude to listen to the customer's business requirements and then help translate them into data/reporting solutions.
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in a higher education setting.
Must have direct working knowledge of the Technolutions Slate CRM (Administrator and/or Reporting Roles preferred)
Demonstrated ability and experience working with analytics and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Business Intelligence, Oracle)
Strong knowledge of statistical methods/raw data analysis
Advanced skills in data manipulation & transformation (e.g., expert in MS Excel and working with CSV files)
An obsessive attention to detail and data accuracy
Experience in successfully managing high-stakes, complex projects
Superior relationship/stakeholder management skills
Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills
