The Assistant Director is responsible for the development of business intelligence content for use by the Columbia College Office of Alumni Affairs and Development to enable effective decision making across the Alumni and Development community. The Assistant Director develops reports to support short- and long-term planning, including giving and alumni engagement trend analyses, ROI and cost-benefit analysis of direct marketing projects, and the ongoing work of the development and alumni relations teams.
Develop professional quality business intelligence, data visualization and analytics content in support of broader strategic priorities, primarily using Microsoft Power BI and data modeling software.
Leverage strong problem solving and analytical skills to help management make data-driven decisions.
Understand and manipulate raw data, and then extract and communicate useful results in easily digestible formats.
Standardize and simplify reporting outputs and standard metrics to promote shared data understanding and ease of comprehension for College staff.
Maintain proficiency in industry-standard reporting and data delivery practices and software tools through self-guided learning, training, coursework, conference attendance, etc.
Ad hoc project assistance, as required.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
Two (2) to four (4) years of work related to data analysis required.
Experience with one or more of the following business intelligence and data visualization platforms (Microsoft SSRS, MS Power BI, Tableau, Qlik).
Proficiency with spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets is required.
Excellent oral and interpersonal skills and strong project management and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
A strategic thinker and who is intellectually curious.
Effective in moving strategic agendas, politically savvy, flexible in nature, and have a sound judgment with a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.

Knowledge of common practices in the fields of fundraising, alumni relations, development, and prospect development is a plus.
