The Data Warehouse Manager will be a member of the business intelligence and analytics leadership team which defines the direction and delivery of analytical and operational capabilities supporting SCCAs clinical, research and business operations. The Manager will grow and direct a technical team capable of defining and implementing best practices for data integration and data warehouse management. This individual will be a hands-on player coach for a diverse team of analysts, data modelers, solution architects, and developers, providing technical and architectural guidance while grooming future leaders.
Provide data and technical leadership in key initiatives (acquisitions, strategies, etc.) to determine the implications, provide business case input, recommend solutions, and ensure successful implementation
Provide subject matter expertise and management oversight ensure the data warehouse is architecturally sound, compliant, reflects leading practices, and supports SCCAs functional and technical needs
Become an expert in SCCAs enterprise data needs, data systems, and data capabilities
Develop and implement strategies to integrate data from source systems (e.g., Epic), operational databases, and third-party vendors (e.g., Press-Ganey) into the data warehouse
Work with partners across IT and business units to build and maintain the data infrastructure and advance SCCAs analytic capabilities
Leads the department in stakeholder engagement, promoting adoption of data and analytics capabilities and managing expectations to achieve high stakeholder satisfaction
Support SCCA's clinical, research, and operational needs by regularly engaging SCCA internal and external stakeholders, including UW Medicine, Fred Hutch, and Seattle Childrens Hospital
Recruit, retain, and develop a highly skilled technical team to develop and advance SCCAs data warehouse capabilities
Manage day-to-day activities of the enterprise data warehouse team in the design, development, testing, and support of the data warehouse and related environment
Direct the team in documenting requirements and technical design specifications to ensure the data warehouse meets the current and future needs of the business
Direct data warehouse team in user communications, training, production scheduling, release planning, and coordination activities
Evaluate emerging technologies and development methodologies; recommends solutions to continuously improve SCCAs data capabilities
Provide periodic on-call coverage for IT division as part of SCCAs standard support program
Conduct administrative duties for data warehouse team (i.e. budgeting, onboarding, development plans, time approval, performance reviews, expense reports, etc.
Bachelors degree in computer science, information systems, or comparable work experience equivalent
4+ years of experience leading data warehouse development teams
8+ years of demonstrated data warehousing & business intelligence experience
5+ years of experience with MS SQL Server (v. 2012 and above)
Certification in MS-SQL Server
Certification in Cloud technology (either MS-Azure or AWS), Epic Cogito, and Agile.
Experience managing software development lifecycle projects (Agile, DevOps, etc.)
Experience with data architecture, metadata, master data management, etc.
Familiarity with business intelligence reporting tools (Tableau, SAP BusinessObjects, SSRS, etc.)
Experience using technologies to foster (Teams, Slack, SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence)
Ability to manage business expectations and deliver customer-focused solutions
Strong analytical, organizational skills, and time management skills
Experience translating requirements into pragmatic, implementable solutions
Ability to develop enduring thought-partner relationships with operational leaders
Familiarity with healthcare and/or clinical data, ideally in oncology
General knowledge of cloud architecture and platforms
Experience with Agile software development
Experience with Visual Studio, Team Services, and/or Git

At Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, teams of world-renowned scientists and humanitarians work together to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
