Under the general direction of the Director of Advancement Data and Business Systems, the Senior Data and Business Intelligence Analyst provides system support and strategic planning to optimize the operational effectiveness of key fundraising programs, including annual, major, principal, and planned giving. Specifically, this position is responsible for fundraising system configurations, exception reporting, system inefficiency identification and resolution, and programmatic system and data solutions - all to provide information, knowledge, coordination, and tools that support the campus in achieving its private fundraising goals, as well as to provide assessments of Advancement program effectiveness.
The Senior Data and Business Intelligence Analyst is also responsible for ensuring our systems are meeting the needs of Advancement. This position will assess and document the business needs of clients, suggest and design solutions to meet those needs, and liaise with clients to ensure the potential solution functions effectively and efficiently. This position will evaluate existing solution options for efficacy, and will research and appraise new technologies and services to enhance current business processes.
Communicating the strategic business decisions with IT colleagues, and informing non-technical clients of technical specifications is also an essential component of this position. Documentation, from requirement gathering, to technical manuals, to client facing reference guides for systems related topics, are the responsibility of the Senior Data and Business Intelligence Analyst. This ensures reduced support requirements whilst improving quality and productivity of Advancement system processes.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices.
Demonstrated experience in querying, cleansing and manipulating large data sets. Proven ability to understand complex relational data structures.
Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Proven ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
Demonstrated ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues.
Strong skill understanding quality service and group processes. Ability to work as part of a team and build consensus and collaboration. Ability to lead, mentor, and train others; willingness to share skills and techniques with peers and colleagues.
Proven ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures; separate problems from symptoms; identify potential solutions; apply solutions and formulate logical and objective conclusions from data and observations; and communicate conclusions to a variety of personnel at various levels.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities. Adept in ability to learn quickly, apply creativity, understand complex processes and procedures, prioritize workload, set and meet deadlines, and perform well with a minimum of direct supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner. Skills required to explain analytical result sets to both internal and external audiences at all levels.
Proven interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff. High degree of professionalism, ethical sensitivity and discretion; ability to maintain a commitment to confidentiality.
