Detailed Job Description The Data Intelligence Analyst is primarily responsible for information delivery and analysis using RIT's donor management system, and as such is an integral member of the Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Analytics team. A successful analyst will focus on opportunities to scale data impact through identification of leverage points, thoughtful data modeling, programmatic abstractions, and process automation.
With Oracle as the primary system of origin, the analyst will be responsible for supplying data to downstream reporting and analytics platforms, which include Ellucian Advance, Tableau, Python, and Excel supported by Visual Basic. The ideal person in this role will be committed to continual learning about these and other tools in order to create increasingly creative and efficient solutions.
Additional responsibilities include maintenance, development and continual improvement of all code, automations, and data related to reporting, analytics, and front-office needs in support of the Development and Alumni Relations division. The position is also responsible for leading quality assurance efforts in maintaining the accuracy of campaign data, report development, and delivery of various ad-hoc reports.
This position works closely with the Advancement Information Systems team in evaluating, developing, testing, and implementing programmatic changes within our ecosystem to enhance our analytical capabilities and create up- and down-stream efficiencies. This includes overseeing the life cycle from inception to implementation of various interactive dashboards and analytics that will help lead the division in its strategic approach.
Finally, the SQL Data Intelligence Analyst will fulfill a critical role in helping the organization achieve its strategic goals driven by driving data efficiencies and insights. He/she will also identify industry trends and incorporate them into the division's current and future business models
Interact with a cross functional work team to provide customer support to RIT's Division of Development and Alumni Relations, and all users of RIT's donor management system and applications
Actively engages in development and continual improvement of reports, data extracts, and analytics as appropriate
Development and delivery pertaining to various ad-hoc report requests from division staff with a focus on empowering end-users.
Working with the Systems and Solutions Architect, research and implement solutions for systems and data; focus on unlocking upstream data to create downstream scale, efficiencies, and possibilities.
Encapsulate and modularize business logic within Advancement Services systems to enhance data intelligence and support ease of data use in downstream consumables.
Works closely with Advancement Services Team on process re-engineering and automation efforts to increase the level of productivity and accuracy of divisional initiatives.
Support integration of non-Oracle environments into the Advance donor management ecosystem; design and build processes and interfaces for efficient transfer and use of data between systems.
Documentation of code, assets, automations, and processes
Design and implement customizations to the Advance application based on business rules and defined specifications.
Collect, audit, and analyze data feeds, reporting on findings and integrating into standardized metrics and/or dashboards
Under the direction of the Director of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Reporting, engages customers to design and develop dashboards and other business intelligence tools that support data-driven decision making.
Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer or Data Science, Statistics, or similar field
3 to 5 years of work experience a programmatic and data-centric role.
Experience with SQL and PL/SQL (or equivalent), including but not limited to: stored procedures, (materialized) views, query optimization, use of custom types, extracting and manipulating data
Strong grasp of programmatic abstraction techniques combined with the ability to create modular, reusable code elements.
Experience creating reports or dashboards; includes necessary programming, data setup, formatting, and deployment. Ideal application experience would include Tableau and Excel using VBA.
Possess detail-focused systems skills necessary to successfully deploy and debug applications, drivers, APIs, etc. on Windows Server VMs
Continuous delivery and Dev Ops experience - infrastructure automation, monitoring, logging, auditing and security implementation and practices
Effective communication of processes and data models with appropriate attention to detail and grounded in systems thinking principles
Ability to thoughtfully design proof of concept tests following Design Thinking approach and minimum viable product concept
Ability to combine by-the-book solutions with personal knowledge and passion for emerging techniques and technologies
Adherence to a high level of security and ethical standards when dealing with confidential information
Experience with Python preferred, specifically relating to data loading and manipulation with libraries such as Pandas or NumPy.
Experience with the Ellucian Advance or comparable donor management system
