UK Healthcare (UKHC) Performance Analytics Center of Excellence (PACE) has posted the Data Scientist – Principal role. This position plays a critical role in the transformational change at UK Healthcare to drive analytics as core infrastructure in support of the UKHC strategy: Data as a strategic asset in a data-driven organization. The Data Scientist – Principal is a key resource in the data analytics, data science, and data warehousing functions at UKHC. This position serves as the subject matter expert in advanced analytics and data science, including predictive and prescriptive analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, and data engineering.
The Data Scientist – Principal will keep abreast of the rapidly changing data science domain best practices, tools, and applications available, healthcare industry data requirements and drives the maturation of UK Healthcare in the use of data science best practices. Additionally, this role works closely with data governance committees and work groups and leadership to ensure best practices are followed. This role is responsible for maintenance and enhancement of advanced analytics solutions and to mentor, educate and drive best practices with analytics team members, data and business analysts, and researchers.

Qualified candidates must have demonstrated and extensive experience in decision support, data science methodologies such as statistical analysis and/or data modeling and data exploration and visualization. This individual must have a strong knowledge of project management methodologies and practices, as well as leadership, interpersonal, and financial management skills. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Data Science tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Cognos, Microsoft PowerBI, Python, and R, as well as an expert-level understanding of the analysis of structured and unstructured data and relational databases such as Microsoft SQL. Strong knowledge of enterprise data warehouse best practices also necessary. Must be a customer-focused, determined leader who possesses strong facilitation, presentation, conflict management, problem solving and communications skills.

PhD preferred in IT, data science, mathematics, finance, healthcare, statistics, or a related area.
