DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital - Michigan's first Level 1 Trauma Center and one of the busiest and most well-equipped emergency departments, this hospital trains nearly half of the practicing emergency medicine physicians in the state.
Under direction of the Chief Strategy Officer, supports annual and multi-year business planning for Detroit Medical Center - Adult Central Campus, working closely with hospital strategy, operations, and clinical leaders. These efforts include integrating market health care utilization data and competitive dynamic insights into forecasting, business opportunity identification, assessment, planning, and managing execution of prioritized growth initiatives. Independently leads market assessment and pro-forma development for major capital projects. Develops and maintains market analytics and business intelligence solution(s). Partners with market leaders, as appropriate, and develops communications for senior executives and Board discussions.
Analytical ability to serve in an advisory/consultative role in determining and/or developing strategies, policies, processes, protocols and methods, frequently in the absence of guidelines or technical assistance, and to evaluate and implement complex systems/techniques and/or processes that foster innovative approaches to improve current functions. Demonstrates a natural curiosity and learning agility when working with complex datasets.
Communication and interpersonal skills for frequent contact with internal customers as well as external stakeholders to persuade or negotiate on a wide range of subjects in situations which may be controversial, sensitive and/or lead to confrontation. A mastery of a variety of communication modalities is required to include leading meetings, making formal presentations, and writing complex documents and managing complex relationships over time.
Project management skills including the ability to define program, project, or process objectives, identify stakeholders and their interests, plan steps, coordinate and allocate human, technological and fiscal resources to accomplish goals and objectives in a resourceful yet timely manner.
Leadership skills including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching, teaching and counseling skills, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances and garner support.
Demonstrates ability to guide strategic direction and manages multiple, ongoing initiatives, where some initiatives are unstructured, requiring autonomy and independent judgment.
Understands market dynamics across the continuum of care, and is able to identify trends and clearly distill and provide data-driven insights to form recommendations for colleagues who may not have a technical background.
Ability to organize effectively, solve problems quickly and clearly articulate a position with sound logic and supporting empirical evidence.
Superior verbal and written communication skills with ability to synthesize complex, data-driven information into helpful insights for leaders across the market.
Balance and emotional intelligence required to meet the diverse needs of the business leaders across the market.
Bachelorï¿½s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or related discipline. MBA or Masters in Health Care Administration (preferred).
2. Five years of related work experience in financial services, management consulting or business planning in health care.
3. Advanced Excel and Querying skills; substantial experience with data analysis and modeling. Experience with building, developing and validating Tableau (data visualization software) reports preferred.
