The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for developing automated, scalable reporting solutions for our organization. The Business Intelligence Developer will help to work with database administrators to develop backend solutions, while also engaging with business users to understand data and reporting requirements.
Help design, development and implement Business Intelligence (BI) solutions and strategies to drive business decisions
Collaborate with the subject matter experts to define solution-based architectures in support of business intelligence reporting: this requires working with the various teams to design and develop data solutions which satisfy the BI requirements of the organization
Design, code, test, and document new or modified BI systems, applications and programs
Develop in-depth understanding of underlying data, data structures and business uses of data to provide clear data visualizations and analysis
Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary
Proactively participate in requirements sessions and prototyping sessions with the business users
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field (e.g. engineering, statistics, quantitative methods, or analytics) or equivalent
3+ years of business intelligence analyst or business/data analyst experience or equivalent
Experience in reporting techniques such as Drill-Through, Cross-Tabs, Summary Reports, Scheduled Reports, On-demand reports
Experience with Microsoft’s Power BI, Power Query and DAX
Experience with SQL Server, JSON, JQuery, PowerShell and/or Python
Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to translate business questions into problems solvable using analytics tools, and enjoy converting the results of your analyses into visual narratives tailored to the needs of the audience
Strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience working on and communicating with fast-paced, dynamic teams
Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
Ability to influence, collaborate and communicate ideas effectively
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers and internal or external clients
Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle
Experience with Scrum/Agile methodologies
