Student Life Technology Solutions (TechSolutions) seeks an energetic, innovative, and technologically savvy Salesforce administrator to join our new Business Intelligence and Analytics group. This new position will help develop a strategy for the use of Salesforce within our enterprise environment and execute that strategy. This position will design solutions, systems, and processes to provide Student Life staff, students, and affiliated faculty the tools they need to manage not only traditional CRM data but also applications and communities built for the Salesforce platform. This position will work closely with Student Life partner units, the central campus IT service provider, and other schools, colleges, and units using Salesforce across campus. This position will report to the Student Life Technology Solutions Associate Director in charge of Business Intelligence and Analytics.
50% - Salesforce administration
Work closely with Student Life units to collaboratively manage Salesforce, its data, and related technologies.
Work with TechSolutions team members to develop reports, dashboards, and other information communication tools for Student Life units by exposing appropriate data elements (views or tables) for analysis.
Monitor Salesforce and related systems to maintain data integrity through data cleaning; extract, transform, and load (ETL) tools; and comparisons between multiple data sets.
Leverage new or existing tools and automation to streamline management of the Student Life Salesforce footprint, e.g., for synchronizing data across multiple databases, loading data from institutional data sources, and working with other campus units to share data across organizational boundaries.
Deliver regular reports and analyses on the use and operation of Salesforce and related technology systems.
Document processes and workflows related to managing Salesforce and related applications.
Troubleshoot technical problems and errors encountered by users and reach out to users to recommend best practices or correct issues with data entry.
Conduct an annual review/cleanup of database fields/objects, tables, and relational database links within Salesforce.
25% - Salesforce architecture
Research and analyze departmental needs, preferences, objectives, and methods. Study and understand how staff, students, and other audiences consume and act upon content across Student Life and the university as a whole.
Design, plan, and execute a data management strategy for Salesforce and related systems.
Utilize user behavior analytics to make enhancements to workflows and strategies.
Regularly meet with unit data stewards to ensure that the Salesforce environment is designed and set up to support their use of the system.
15% - Salesforce systems integration
Build data connections (e.g., via API) to institutional systems and unit vertical applications to enable data to flow between these systems and Salesforce, ensuring the needed data cleaning and transformation take place as designed.
Establish processes, procedures, and norms for moving data out of Salesforce and into other repositories, such as the enterprise data warehouse.
10% - Outreach and Professional development
Act as an Ambassador as part of the TechSolutions Ambassador service by visiting Student Life units on a bi-weekly basis in order to better understand unit needs, identify opportunities for innovative projects, and offer day-to-day assistance with general technology needs.
Plan and schedule training sessions on the basic use of Salesforce for units’ data stewards.
Participate in professional development activities that benefit both the individual and TechSolutions as a whole, usually focused on emerging technologies and Student Life unit needs.
Bachelor's degree in a related technical or science field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing complex data across multiple relational databases, data stores, systems, and/or applications
Minimum of 3 years of experience with business process documentation and/or improvement
Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a Salesforce/Education Cloud environment, e.g., with the core CRM product, Marketing Cloud, automating workflows, or developing custom objects, fields, and tables.
Good verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and/or similar Google applications
Ability to legally work in the United States (sponsorship for the position is not provided)
1-3 years of experience operating a Salesforce/Education Cloud environment
Certified Salesforce Administrator with a minimum of 1 year of experience in that role or equivalent experience for both
Certified Salesforce Architect and knowledge of the EDA (Education Data Architecture)
Certified Salesforce Advanced Administrator
In-depth experience with Marketing Cloud
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
